The Low Anthem return to the states and hit the West Coast this month after wandering Europe with my pal Kasey Anderson . If you recall, they're out in support of their recent LP, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin , out now on Nonesuch Records . While Anderson hops off the tour, they will be playing with the excellent Blind Pilot , who themselves wrapped up a stint of summer dates with The Decemberists last month. New York's Phantogram - that's Saratoga Springs, NY, not NYC - has signed to Barsuk Records and will release Eyelid Movies in February of 2010. Phantogram's music is filled with synth lines fit for shoegaze, electronic beats that hint of a hip hop influence, and lovable pop vocals. Songs like "Mouthful Of Diamonds" find a place somewhere between Ratatat (the two groups both hail from SS, NY) with vocals and M83 on downers. "Running From The Cops" has vocals you could almost call eerie. [...]
![Damon And Naomi [Show Preview]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2043495_lg.jpg)
Damon And Naomi are headed to Seattle next Tuesday, and here are a few reasons you should go. First, of course, is their history. The duo was part of the epic band Galaxie 500. Second, their songs are filled with a mystical and orchestrated folk beauty. Just listen to the lovely "Cruel Queen" and the epic "My Flower". (The latter jumps off the map in the bridge with a wicked noisy flute part.) These are songs that simply BEG to be experienced live. Third, A Hawk & A Hacksaw is [...]

Eugene Mirman released his new album, God Is A Twelve-Year-Old Boy With Asperger's , yesterday on Sub Pop . I've listened to it a few times, and I've seen him (like you probably have) on Flight Of The Conchords. And I've looked up his videos on YouTube. And I just have to say, that Eugene Mirman is awesome. That's it. Now listen to a song from his new record, and check out a cool video of him speaking to his old high school during a graduation ceremony... [...]
![Chimes & Bells [Show Preview]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2025314_lg.jpg)
If you listen closely, you'll hear it. You may need to turn up the volume a trite, though. Throughout "Into Pieces Of Wood", Danish solo project of Caecilie Trier (Choir Of Young Believers), Chimes & Bells is poised to explode. The tension is grating; it pulls at the soul. At the halfway point, the song begins its true build, and that's where you hear it: a hint of experimental pop. It's subtle, draped behind the epic powerful notes that are the basis of the song's emotional anxiety, but it's there. [...]

Of late Sub Pop has been returning to its roots and dishing out a slew of reissues. It was bound to come to this; they're dishing out a deluxe on Nirvana's 1989 debut, Bleach , scheduled for a November 3 release and available now for pre-order. Marking the 20th anniversary of Bleach , the reissue will include a previously unreleased live performance from The Pine Street Theatre in 1990. If you're like me, you'll be heading over to the Sub Pop page and snagging one of the double LP [...]

To celebrate her tenth year in Seattle shooting music and various other goodies, Skylark Cafe in West Seattle is hosting an exhibit by Jenny Jimenez dubbed "SHow Me Your TIFFs: Ten Years Of Live Concert Photography". The exhibit will show from September 28 to December 14. Here's a snippet from the press release that goes into more detail on Jenny and her history in Seattle: Seattle's premier music and wedding photographer, Jenny Jimenez, is celebrating an anniversary of sorts with "Show Me Your TIFFs: Ten years [...]

Last night on the way to a show in Cincinnati, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir was in a terrible van accident. A blown tire sent the vehicle rolling down the highway. Our thoughts go out to the band, who earlier this month released their third LP, ...And The Horse You Rode In On , on Bloodshot Records . Their gear and van were destroyed. Ethan, Jay and Allison were released last night, but Elia, Mary and Mark remain in the hospital. As most musicians, SYGC [...]
