In the March 2010 Newsletter the Legendary Pink Dots (/lpd/) have officially announced the departure of members Martijn de Kleer and Niels Van Hoorn. Martijn first appeared on Shadow Weaver in 1992 and has been an on and off member of the group over the years, however Neils has not departed the group since his debut on The Crushed Velvet Apocalypse from 1990. Martijn will be replaced by Erik Drost once again on guitar (re-joining the dots) but for the first time since 1989 the group will perform as a trio with Raymond behind the mixing console. Former Coil (/coil/) collaborator Danny Hyde has put a substantial amount of Coil related items on ebay this weekend, many of them exceedingly rare. He is currently in the process of building a new studio outside of the London area and so the majority of the proceeds from these auctions will go toward that endeavor, which may also lead to the possibility of him being able to unearth some interesting unreleased Coil material from his substantial archives.

Expect three new releases from Steven Stapleton's end of the universe between now and the end of November including a reissue of his classic album with Tony Wakeford, Revenge of the Selfish Shellfish, the long-awaited homage to truly cosmic sounds, Space Music, and Paranoid in Hi-Fi, a brand new Nurse With Wound (/nww/) album that is literally selling for pennies.

The New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09 /14/books/14carroll.html?_r=1 hp) has reported that Jim Carroll died in New York on Friday at his home of apparent heart attack, according to his former wife, Rosemary. Jim made a name for himself first as a poet and his voice can be heard on some early Giorno Poetry Systems (/giorno/) LPs, as a writer he's probably most famously known for Basketball Diaries, and as a rocker he's probably best known for the Jim Carroll Band hit People Who Died, (which appeared in the film E.T.) although he continued to play through the '90s [...]

Make everyone an imaginary Mix CD for our new virtual Mix CD Exchange Party (index.php?option=com_content task=category sectionid=7 id=79 Itemid=94) section. Send the tracklist (and only a tracklist) to mixcd at brainwashed. Make sure it is short enough to fit on a disc, avoid shameless self-promotion (ie don't put your own songs on it!), tell us who you are and where you are, and give it a title!

Here at Brainwashed we're devastated when we hear of labels sending music to the landfills. There's plenty of uses for spare CDs: keep some at the home, office, give to friends, leave at coffee shops, use as coasters, etc... We're currently trying to unload some CD overruns: CDs that have no artwork. We're giving them away at $1 each and have a number of titles in the Brainwashed Commerce (/commerce.html) section.

Bonnie Prince Billy, Matt Elliott (formerly of Third Eye Foundation), and Yann Tiersen are only a few of the numerous members involved with This Immortal Coil, a project of musicians reinterpreting a small selection of Coil (/coil/) music for an album titled The Dark Age of Love ( http://www.thedarkageoflove.co m/). A Web site has been launched in its anticipation and music from the album can be streamed online. Peter Christopherson has given this collection high praise and pre-orders are already being taken.
