Pretty Lights drops of his latest inspiring visuals for 'The Day Is Gone'. The video gives us a recap of the fun-filled party that went down on NYE this past year at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Looks like quite the party to remember.

The Beginning Pretend you’ve never been to Marquee (at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.) Adrenaline seeps into your veins as you step through the velvety partitions. You are surrounded by suits and legs bookended by ultra-mini dresses and stilettos. Just before the elevator doors opens, the operator mirrors the grins around him and says, “Have fun tonight!” Drink in hand, you make your way to the floor. In case you weren’t sure, a mural on a wall proclaims, “You’re not in Kansas anymore.” Driving through the desert from Orange [...]

On December 31, 2012, there were two shows held at Brooklyn, NY's 285 Kent Ave. The earlier edition featured performances by Merchandise, Blanche Blanche Blanche, TONSTARTSSBANDHT and a set by secret headliners, DIIV. Afterwards, Lit City Rave took over the venue with performances by Sasha Go Hard, DJ Rashad and others. See more images from this post.

Gloriously, but blistering heat and a slew of incredible artists and music populated Sydney’s The Domain on new years day for FIELD DAY , proving once again why it is the premium Sydney music festival. As a location for Field Day The Domain is pretty perfect for the festival, not only do all four stages comfortably fit in the area, but there are also huge areas of grass, tress proving shade and lots and lots of room for lots and lots of bars. When first walking into the [...]

When it comes to good R&B, nobody does it like Brandy. She's got it all, the voice, the history, the right choice of lyrics and a knack to incorporate new sounds into a standardized genre. In this case, Brandy goes back to basics with an adorning ballad about longing and lost love. "Without You" is a sad song about not being able to live without that one person. The story of the song is matched with Brandy's yearning, yet not overwhelming vocals. It doesn't set out to impress you at first, in fact, it is one of those [...]

For trance fans, the choice for New Year's Eve in New York was clear. Newly re-crowned number one DJ in the world Armin van Buuren was joined by Jerome Isma-ae and Jochen Miller at Pier 36 for a high-energy, nonstop party to ring in 2013. We arrived just in time to catch the last 20 minutes of Jerome's set, but the change in mood as Armin took over the decks right around 11pm was palpable. He eased the crowd into his four hour set with familiar tracks like his collaboration "I'll Listen" with Ana Criado, the [...]
It's New Year Day, 2013. The last few notes of “Language” linger in Chicago's Congress Theater as Porter Robinson exits the stage. Nineteen days from now Papa Roach will take that same stage. I tell you this not to drive ticket sales for the aging metal band's upcoming show, but to help paint a picture for those who haven't visited the Congress. Its monstrous dance floor, which will soon play host to a 3500 person mosh pit, has just accommodated an equal number of ravers. This venue has no bathroom attendants, no sparklers taped to $500 [...]

This New Year’s Eve we traveled to Brooklyn, New York for an adventure in Dadaland - Dada Life's own man made compound and playground without rules. The entrance was visually remniscent of a Disney movie, as we bore witness to a maze of lights before reaching the venue itself. The 64,000 square foot warehouse had been transformed to host 24 hours of New Years festivities for dance music enthusiasts to enjoy with all senses. With a previously unoccupied venue, unparalleled production quality, and a stellar talent lineup, this 2013 celebration in Brooklyn instantly became one for the books. [...]

There was no shortage of New Year’s Eve events to choose from this year, but when the two day lineup for LED’s OMFG in San Diego was released, there was no question where I was going to spend my final days of 2012. With a behemoth lineup consisting of Jack Beats , Nervo , Calvin Harris , Nero , Dillon Francis , Hardwell , Zedd , Laidback Luke and more, OMFG boasted an astounding array of talent over its two day spread. While I would happily recount my experiences from all of these tremendous artists, no [...]

Sandlot.tv's sperry was able to document Phony Ppl's latest visit to Washington DC as they get ready to open for The Legendary Roots Crew at The Fillmore during New Years Eve and rock out the sold-out show. Peep the visual below.
For house music lovers, New York City on New Year's Eve was the place to be. If you love trance music, you most likely spent the night at Pier 36 with Armin van Burren ; for those looking to get JACKED you most likely partied with Afrojack and friends, and for those of you who dig the sounds of the future, you probably went to watch the Pretty Lights at Roseland Ballroom. I on the other hand found myself getting ugly with Dada Life . Before arriving, we were welcomed with one simple declaration: [...]

Sometimes a fan can take it a bit too far when trying to get to their favorite artist. While Atlanta producer, Treasure Fingers, was opening for Bassnectar in Nashville, a crazed fan climbed on stage and lunged on top of him. It probably wasn't what Ashley Jones had in mind when he took the New Years Eve opening slot, however, rumor has it that Treasure Fingers laid down a really nice set despite the fiasco.

HT faves My Morning Jacket finished off their New Year's Run in style last night with a blow out at Agganis Arena in Boston. MMJ were joined by old friends Preservation Hall Brass Band and filled their main set and encore with covers and "hits" from their repertoire of originals. For the countdown, Jim James and Co. utilized Sesame Street's 12345678910 1112 before kicking in to One Big Holiday. See how it looked... Thanks to YouTuber dillsnufus we [...]

Let's talk about beginnings -- new ones. It's January 1, so we all get to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. I had no problem saying goodbye to 2012 -- a year full of false starts, disappointments, broken promises and another Buenos Aires burglary -- and I enter 2013 cautiously optimistic. How could it not get better? (On the plus side, I did kick Klonopin and nasal decongestants in 2012!) For the first time since 1999 segued into 2000, and I spent the Y2K New Year with Amir in his [...]

Budding producer, Ryan Hemsworth, just dropped a new song for your NYE pleasure. Hemsworth has spent 2012 breaking through peoples speakers and really shining amongst a lot of new artists. Check out this track, "Basedworld," and get turnt. Download: Ryan Hemsworth - BasedWorld
Filed under: News Getty Images 2013 is nearly upon us! As we prepare for the new year, whether it's with a champagne toast at the club or a quiet night in with the kids, for many of us, New Year's Eve is a time for celebration and reflection. We gathered some of the music community's NYE tweets, from resolutions and motivation by elder statesmen like Gene Simmons and Wyclef Jean , jokes from [...]
New Year's Eve is chock full of shitty parties with even more shitty people. But don't despair, there's some good things happening if you look around. I'm personally sticking to Brooklyn and taking it easy because I've had enough bullshit this year. I dug through a few hundred invites and here are some parties I would actually consider attending. Have fun tonight, kiddies. All the Brooklyn
