Photos by G. Adeline Michele of Escort If you like disco or funky grooves, become a fan of Escort . The 17 piece band (yes!) performed to a packed house at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 24, 2013 and for an hour and a half, the venue was transformed into a giant dance floor. All of Escort's songs make you groove and you'd swear these tracks were originally released in the 70s, yet they are Escort originals. Escort has everything you'd want in a [...]

Photo by G. LL Cool J and Geoffrey Dicker Ladies Love Cool James and G Loves LL Cool J and LL Cool J loves Cool G. Whew! Say that 100 times fast! I met LL Cool J the other night and it made me realize that the last time we met face to face was in the 1990s which was depressingly 20 years ago! It was worth the wait as LL is still super cool. He signed my "Mama Said Knock You Out" CD which is [...]
New York indie-pop five piece, Caveman released their debut eponymous album last month - and now the stand out tune from that album (and one of my favourite tunes of the last few months), In The City has gone and got itself a video (starring actress Julia Stiles no less). Check it out below:
HD Video by G. Laura Mvula is gonna be huge. Just press play to find out why. This track, "Let Me Fall" does not appear on Laura's debut album "Sing To The Moon," but you can hear a great live version of "Let Me Fall," below. Enjoy! Share/Save
In a year where there have been some fantastic unsung albums, it is more than likely that Steve Gunn will get overlooked. This will be a massive shame but for those of us who have succumbed to his charms, we are going to be that much richer. By Martyn Coppack

Will is a UK native based in London and New York, and has worked with Vibe Magazine, The Independent, Ministry of Sound, Dazed Digital, a personal favorite,Vice Magazine and more . Check out a few of these shots from his Places & Faces collection.
When I move to New York in just over a month (that’s 5 weeks, 37 days, and too many hours for my atrophied postgrad mind to calculate), I sincerely hope a scary bellhop doesn’t creep into my bedroom every night and gradually slice my skin with a scalpel while I sleep. As nervous as I am for the big move, I never had this particular worry until watching Caveman ’s video for “In The City,” the first single off their self-titled LP. The clip features Fran Kranz and Save The Last Dance star Julia Stiles [...]

Kids are cute. Occasionally they have extremely ambitious and logically impossible goals like growing up to be a dinosaur or living off of Lunchables and Sunny D forever. That being said, Sufjan Stevens' has company. His ambitious musical map of the US of A project, had he continued, would have came to a close around 2053 with Stevens sitting at the ripe age of 78. Seems unlikely. Of course, I would have loved to see it happen. The man can write damn good music, which is why I'm here writing about how you should listen to his album [...]
HD Video by G. Remember that time that the legendary Tom Jones performed not in a massive theatre but inside the 500 person maximum venue Bowery Ballroom? I was there to capture all the action including this show highlight, a cover of Elvis Presley's "One Night With You." Sir Tom talks a little bit about Elvis before the song starts so hear what he has to say by pressing play! [...]
Holy Ghost! have given us a sneak peek of LP #2 with a simple, beautiful video for their latest single "Dumb Disco Ideas." Alex and Nick treat us to an eight minute epic of pure disco glory whose sound epitomizes the DFA aesthetic; tight, boozy grooves build and grow as the sun descends behind the towering modular synths and the New York City skyline. Like the City, the music never sleeps; it pulses through the night and greets the rising sun with a crescendo of bustling sounds and harmonizing voices. If you were wise enough to catch [...]

Levende legende Giorgio Moroder leverde afgelopen maandag zijn allereerste dj-set in New York af.

The Underachievers have dropped a new track titled "May's Patience," which is great and continues to showcase the talents of these bona fide East Coast spitters, but what's even more exciting is the description of the embedded track above teases toward a new full-length project on the way from the up-and-coming duo this June, CHAPTER 23 ! Looking forward to it. Stream and enjoy! Check a review for the duo's latest mixtape, Indigoism , below:

Photos by G. Macklemore and Geoffrey Dicker The hottest rapper/DJ duo (literally and figuratively) on the music scene are Macklemore (real name Ben Haggerty) and Ryan Lewis (real name Ryan Lewis). Their songs "Thrift Shop" and the gay friendly anthem "Same Love" are virtually unbeatable on the charts. It's nice to know a quick burst of fame has not gone to their heads and I hope it stays that way. Ryan Lewis and Geoffrey Dicker [...]

Photo by G. None of us are Free Until All of Us Are Equal It's the midway point of 2013 and not the Middle Ages. In New York, there has been an alarming increase of hate crimes directed towards gays in the last couple of weeks. This is not ok. Why certain people can't accept the fact that homosexual thoughts have popped into their heads at one time or another is beyond me. If you do any research on the brain, you'll find that [...]

There's a new band on the block. Producing some sweet post-folky-rock numbers with a hell a lot of substance, style and elegance right from the other side of the pond. Influenced by the likes of Austra, Nick Drake and Cat Power, New York-based Wilsen blend contemporary folk songs with ethereal, electric arrangements to create a full intricate sound tagged "dream folk". Wilsen self-released their debut mini-album 'Sirens' in the summer of 2012. Their debut single 'Anahita' was released in February 2013. New single 'Dusk' is released on the 10th June 2013. It comes backed by a cover of [...]

Except for some ghostly murmurings, there really aren't any vocals to be found in the first sixty seconds of newcomer Jimi Nxir 's "Sensation", yet never once does the record even edge into the realm of being boring, thanks to ever-busy Brooklyn multi-talent Melo-X putting in some serious production work with a mesmerizing groove made of somersaulting drums, strobe-y keyboard stabs and blips of electric guitar that could easily satisfy as a repeat-worthy recording all on its own. Once the 21-year-old, NYC-based Nxir does enter the frame a little over a minute in [...]

Photo by G. Shitty Winston Love this fake Basketball card that is making the rounds on the streets of New York. Sounds like a bunch of players that can buy and sell us with the crazy amounts of money they make. Back on topic - do you think this card would have been made by Topps, Fleer or Upper Deck? [...]
