Back in 2008, a video popped up on youtube featuring a then unknown Lunice popping, locking and dropping (it) to a then relatively unknown Lazer Sword 's "Gucci Sweatshirt". The video became moderately popular at the time, making its way around various social circles and then fading into black like every other video from 2008 (except for this one ). The song offered a sort of glitchy pre-amble to Lazer Sword's later work, but is almost indistinguishable from Memory , the duo's latest album. "Gucci Sweatshirt" was officially released in [...]

Nguzunguzu may have a name that we mis-spell on occasion, but their music is far less confusing, in fact it's downright awesome. Here's another track from their Warm Pulse EP - out on Hippos In Tanks

The first single from Nguzunguzu 's upcoming Warm Pulse LP, "Delirium," is a wonderfully glossy trip reminiscent of last year's Rustie album Glass Swords . Check the track out below.

You're gonna feel the Warm Pulse ep from Nguzunguzu (via the awesome Hippos in Tanks label) early next month. For now wrap your ears around this electro-crashed, vocal warped beauty.

It's already been well-documented that Kingdom is one of the most interesting producers in the game right now. Things were going well with gigs, releases and such. Suddenly, within months he leaves NYC subtly, moves to (mostly) sunny Los Angeles and is enjoying life quite nicely there. But before we can fully accept the fact that Kingdom is in L.A. full-time, he does something else to completely shift our focus. Enter FADE TO MIND , Kingdom's new label (as well as being hailed as the "American Night Slugs"). Yes, visually it does seem reminiscent of previous [...]

Husband and wife team Danny and Tiffany Preston, better known as Rainbow Arabia recently made their way over to Kompakt FM and with the labels help will be releasing Boys and Diamonds ; the duo's eagerly anticipated first full length album. RA recorded most of the record at their home studio in Los Angeles using Danny's signature mix of pop and tribal/eastern style beats. Now mix that with Tiffany's vocal swag and you get their strongest and most confident record thus far. The first single Without You gets some special attention by LA's [...]

What emerged at SXSW this year was surely a seminal convergence of forces, the reverberations of which will hopefully amass to something veteran next year. Tormenta Tropical's Thursday and Friday night showcases had the sounds of Cumbia, Tribal Guarachero, Dancehall, UK Funky, and Dubstep all under one roof, with some of the most forward thinking producers/DJ's of tropical bass in attendance. And while it was hard to imagine who could possibly be missing from my own dream-line-up of entertainment, there were no doubt many who were absent. Someone who I hope will be there next year [...]
