We have a double dose of Cat Power this morning and it comes by way of the release of her rad new single, "Cherokee". The original version, which appears on her new  Sun album, has a '90s-influenced sound to it, what with its driving beat and overall smoky air. But the remix? It's all haunted churches and dust bunny-filled mansions thanks to Nicolas Jaar , who knows a thing or two about murdering remixes . Sigh. Listen/download both tracks below.

Cat Power es una de las cosas mas hermosas que el mundo nos pudo regalar, asi que en lo personal debo decir que estoy muy emocionado por saber que ya viene en camino su nuevo album de larga duracion, del que ya habiamos podido escuchar dos muy buenos adelantos conforme nos hemos ido acercando a la fecha oficial del lanzamiento de "Sun". On September 3rd, Cat Power releases her new album, entitled Sun (you probably knew that already, but you never know...). We've already heard the beautiful (which is a word easily thrown about when referencing Cat Power) opening track, 'Cherokee', but how about getting to grips with the Nicolas Jaar remix of said track as well? It's not your typical Jaar production (only in the last 45 seconds does his trademarks start to appear - albet subtly) - but the pairing seems pretty perfect to us. [...]

Less than a month until Cat Power 's new full-length Sun is out (September 3 via Matador, to be exact), yet I can already confirm it is truly amazing. Chan just shared album opener Cherokee , along with a subtle remix from Nicolas Jaar . The lyrics for Cherokee are great too, with things like "When I’m, I’m going down / feels like time is on my time / bury me upside down" and "Never knew love like this / the sun, the sea and I / never knew pain, never knew shame [...]
