The first single on Coldcut 's Ninja Tune imprint was the seminal "Say Kids What Time Is It?", a slap-happy cut and paste masterpiece. It dropped on the 1st of February in 1987, and turned 25 years young today. Ninja Tune let this white label be available for free download. Praise Jah. 64barmusic started in 2009 when the friends on the Ninja Tune forum got together to create homemade mixes of their own music. Contributors were only given two rules. Make the song 64 bars long, and at an agreed tempo. After that, they were told to get creative. Anything goes. The idea is to see just how many grooves / angles / styles can be found at a set tempo. The album "Black Sands" by Bonobo was one of our highlights of 2010. A beautifully constructed work fusing sharp electronica, smooth vocals and a fair share of orchestral arrangement. Following on from the squelchy synths and psychedelic bleeps explored on his first single, Funkineven is returning to his first sound with this new remix of Bonobo's beautiful 'Kiara' single, taken from the 2010 LP 'Black Sands'. The already exquisite 'Kiara' has been reworked by Apron Records head Funkineven into a "synth boogie" number, amping up the beat and readying it for the dancefloor. Feelin the dark, intricate viibes of Yppah's "D. Song." The drum patterns play well with the trippy electro-bass and those ominous female vocals (gotta have the ominous female vocals) .
