It's 41 degrees today in New York City, which isn't really the ideal weather for a spring cleaning. Thank god for us, the Festival Outlook is all virtual. Today we spent a good deal of our post-drunken haze updating the lineup pages for a slew of the world's festivals, from Osheaga and Bumbershoot to Van's Warped Tour (yes, it still exists) and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Check out all our work below: And while we have your attention, please be sure to bookmark Festival Outlook and follow us on Twitter . That way, you'll get [...]

To say that Derek Vincent Smith, the creative force behind Pretty Lights , has had a busy year would be an immense understatement. The electro/hip-hop producer has dropped two free EPs , challenged The xx for most live appearances, and the dude rocks a hoodie like nobody's business. During 2010, Smith has become one of the festival circuit's most in demand producers (don't call him a DJ because he self-admittedly hasn't spun a record in his life). And as the long days of summer continue to shorten, Pretty Lights continue to light up a new generation [...]
In less than two weeks, Pretty Lights ' second EP of 2010, Spilling Over Every Side, has already been downloaded more than 50,000 times. Always aiming to please the ever-expanding fanbase, the Colorado electronic project has now announced another audio/visual road trip this fall, performing over 30 times between October and December. Or maybe the tour is just aimed at funding new releases, as it's hard to afford studio time on free downloads . Whatever the reason, Pretty Lights never fail to provide a rhythmic onslaught. And for all of you that have seen Pretty Lights [...]
After the whirlwind festival week we had last week, things have settled down quite a bit for the last couple of days. Luckily, Lollapaloooza is coming to top off the week with some fun and excitement like spicy meatballs on a plate of spaghetti. In two days time a lean, mean, festival-reporting machine of CoS staff will hit up Chicago's Grant Park to cover the hell out of one of the world's largest festivals. Be sure to check the website daily for all the latest Lollapalooza news and reviews, plus follow us on [...]
Some weeks we’ll be lucky if three stories regarding festivals trickle through our newsroom. Other weeks the planets align in such a way as to generate so many festival stories that our site is practically bursting at its virtual seams. Well, this week every planet and its mother must have queued up because we covered a handful of festival stories each and every day of the past week. The news they delivered ranged from the heartbreaking to the hilarious, in a hodgepodge week that included tragic deaths, party announcements, and a convention center full of nerds. [...]
Hot damn, I forgot how awesome it feels to attend music festivals. Last weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival was my first fest of the summer, and although I had some pretty high expectations, Pitchfork met every one of them. While standing at Girls' set under the blazing hot sun, a cool breeze began to pick up right at the pinnacle of "Hellhole Ratrace" and reminded me that festivals are truly my favorite place to be. Between the dozens of fantastic acts, stand after stand of delicious food, and the good ol' outdoors, no place /event on earth can compete with a [...]
