Diplo shared this new track he pieced together with No Doubt and his Major Lazer people. Seems like a nice way for Gwen and company stay relevant with the current radio and stay true to their original sound. Their reggae and ska influence has always been a major part of their sound. We can't say No Doubt 's new single, "Settle Down" has us excited for their long-in-the-works comeback album Push and Shove , but Major Lazer's involvement in the second single and title cut is certainly enough to have us reevaluate. "Push and Shove," for better or worse, uses one of Gwen Stefani's unhinged wails for a brostep dropped hook — it basically sounds like a maximalist Major Lazer track, only with less twerkable fire. "Push and Shove", the title track from No Doubt 's forthcoming album, premiered this morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, and apparently the band considers it their "Bohemian Rhapsody". I don't if I would go that far. Judge for yourself by streaming the Diplo -produced track below. Push and Shove is out on September 25th on Interscope.

Because No Doubt 's comeback single "Settle Down" is kind of awful, why not get Diplo's Major Lazer in there and see how he can save it? Now there's so much I can take of Gwen Stefani's atonal anti-hook, but if you were looking to, I don't know, dance to "Settle Down" or something, this would be the way to do it. After making people collectively go insane at the Mad Decent Block Parties this past weekend, Diplo decided to unleash his remix of No Doubt's comeback single, "Settle Down". He got to work on the track under his Major Lazer alias, which is pretty much just him at this point as Switch's involvement is all but finished. But that's OK, but Diplo clearly knows how to throw loads of skyscraper-esque bass and synthesizers into a track and make it his own electro dance party. After 11 years of nothing from one of my childhood favorites, No Doubt has finally come out of hibernation with their first single, "Settle Down". The single comes from their forthcoming album Push And Shove , which is slated for a September 25th release on Interscope. The newly regrouped No Doubt will perform Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver" on an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl . The single leaked yesterday- a full month before the show is set to air, and it's everywhere today. I'm definitely a fan of the original, but it's an odd choice for No Doubt to cover, as so much of it relies on Ant's British phrasing. Instead, Stefani hams it up California Girl-style with mixed results. I'm reminded somewhat of her solo work, which doesn't leave the best taste in my mouth. I suppose, [...]
