Young Turks , a new hardcore band featuring ex- Broadway Calls bassist Matt Koenig as frontman, have emerged and posted a five-song demo to their bandcamp page for free download. The band seems to be in the midst of planning some sort of tour.

Yeah, it might be sort of gimmicky to name your band in such a fashion, but it's not like I wasn't going to check out Dear You after receiving a notification that a band named after a favorite LP of mine were now following me on Twitter. My severe lack of activity on the hotbed social networking site is probably going to disappoint them, but their songs didn't disappoint me. Capital have posted a rough mix of a new song to their Facebook page . However, the band says it won't be up for long, so hurry over and check out "Three Weeks in the Desert." The song comes from the band's long-gestating third full-length, which may or may not be out in 2011. The band's last release was the Blind Faith 7" in 2009. They also cover Burn's "Out of Time" on Revelation Records' new Past Present tribute compilation.

The Republic of Wolves have posted the video for their new track, "Oarsman." A free download of the song is also available here . UK act Directions have posted a new demo. You can check out "Dreamer" at either their Facebook page or MySpace . The band, who claims influences such as '90s emo and Brand New, is currently writing for their debut 7" on City of Gold , due out this coming winter. They self-released a four-song demo last year.

Finally, here's the last and admittedly belated installment of our coverage of last month's Long Island Fest 2010 . It was a great time and next year could be even better.
