Noted as one of several forthcoming cinematic offerings from Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi's Rome project, which will comprise a theatrical live-action project, the heralded collaborative single with Jack White now gets the visual treatment. The video for "Two Against One" welcomes an animated cut, actually done rather well, might we add. Expect to see more aesthetic offerings from the album in the near future. The video is part of an interactive project by acclaimed music video director Chris Milk [...]
Danger Mouse Rome EMI In the last couple of years there has been an uprising of the so-called ‘Super Producers’. Most of the music coming from these guys sound like a collection of singles produced for different vocalists by the producer, with the only unifying aspect being a love for noodly jazz (cough.. Ronson… cough) or pulling out ‘unexpected’ covers (cough.. Ronson.. cough) or, in fact, the fact that they’re best mates with said producer. (cough… no point anymore… cough) However, Dangermouse has managed to negotiate this murky [...]

When in Rome ... On KEXP today, I heard a strangely familiar track featuring the vocals of Jack White. It was clever and catchy, and immediately stuck to my brain. A little investigating lead me to the discovery of its origin: yet another awesome project involving the musical mastermind Danger Mouse . I remember briefly hearing about Danger Mouse's " Rome " project, but had apparently forgotten. For those who aren't aware, Rome is supposed to be Danger Mouse's interpretation of a Spaghetti Western score [...]

The beautiful Ingrid Michaelson rarely publishes any cover songs but when she does, like last when she covered Radiohead's "Creep" its nothing short of spectacular. Have a listen to her cover of Elvis's classic, "Can't Help Falling In Love With You". Ingrid Michaelson - Can't Help Falling in Love With You (Elvis) mp3 [...]

In an earlier post I introduced a series based on exposing and exploring the incestuous relationships between movies and music. As noted, musicians have often made cameo appearances in movies, musical or otherwise. One of my personal favorites is (of course) Jack White's rendition of a kung-fu savvy "King of Rock 'n' Roll" in the 2007 comedy, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. A relentlessly hysterical spoof of pretty much any music bio-pic one could think of. Watch WALK HARD clip “The King” en [...]

I was recently introduced to an epic film that not only rose to #2 on my list of movies most admired, but gave rise to an idea for a series of posts that will be collectively called "The Sound of Cinema". Music and movies have a grand history together so, because of the scope of the subject each post will have a set of parameters to which it must adhere. Realizing that several artists/films may have overlap in each category, I will try not to make mention of them in more that one post. Nor will I attempt [...]
Multi-Grammy award winning singer Norah Jones and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel collaborated to create a very special holiday song which aired last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Their original acoustic duet entitled “12 Days of YouTube” featuring 12 of the most popular YouTube videos of the year including smoking monkeys, crying babies and a woman falling down a hole.

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Slightly out of breath after opening last Friday's set at Central Park's SummerStage with two rollicking bluesy solo acoustic tunes, '100 Million Years' and 'Sad, Sad Song,' M. Ward smiled and said, "This is our first time playing the park." While it may have been his first gig there, he sang like he owned the joint. A veteran of the Portland music scene, M. Ward is a musician's musician and has recorded, performed and toured with a diverse list of acts [...]
by bmalex I love saying whats up on Sundays. I've been feeling like the creepy kid in American Beauty the past week. "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I just can't take it!" I've been wide open to the world lately and I'm thankful of all the people passing through. Not all people suck. I had a theory once that even the most evil people look gentle when they're sleeping. Try that trick with Hitler or other people you hate violently. Get em all at once [...]
