A B-sides record from They Might Be Giants is out this week, as well as the strange collaboration between Lou Reed and Metallica . Also expect deluxe editions of albums from Moby [...]

Since 2011, hip-hop artists from Detroit have created some of the most celebrated in the genre, and no one is raising the standard in the underground as high as Black Milk and Danny Brown . After their collaborative track "Black and Brown" from BM's LP Album of the Year became a favorite among fans, the two decided to record an entire EP together titled, Black and Brown , set to release on November 1 on Fat Beat Records . Listen to Danny Brown's newest song "Brown Eyes", and check [...]
From 1978 through 1988, Journey was undisputedly one of the most popular and successful bands in the US. Their original studio albums were massive sellers, with more than 30 singles reaching Billboard's Top 100 charts. Journey's success grew with each release, selling out stadiums across the U.S., and for all intents and purposes inventing the AOR radio format (Album Oriented Rock). During the band's hiatus in 1988, the Greatest Hits album was issued, surveying 15 tracks from the band's 7 albums. Over the years, Journey's music has been used in films and recently in several high-profile TV shows (particularly the [...]
I can't believe this is really happening. Finally. I've been a Smile enthusiast for a little less than 10 years , but there are people who have been waiting for this album since 1966. The short version of the story is that the album was never finished. Following up Pet Sounds and the "Good Vibrations" single proved to be too much for Brian Wilson who wanted to create a "teenage symphony to God." Too many ideas, too many drugs, and the lack of support from the people around him [...]

DC November 1 New Release Recap
A surprisingly lean list of releases this week with Florence and the Machine's Ceremonials leading the short list of key DC releases. The Decemberists strip down a few tracks for the Long Live the King EP, we get the debut from Austin alt-country Sons of Fathers and witty New York piano banger turned continental favorite Julian Velard finally gets a U.S. release of his latest Mr. Saturday Night . And for those with a $125 burning a whole in their pockets, can we suggest the insanely overloaded box set of U2's Achtung Baby ? [...]

Show Review + Photos: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Blitzen Trapper at the Pageant, Saturday, November 1
A microKorg synthesizer sat atop the dual stand of Jicks keyboardist/guitarist Mike Clark. On the Pageant's floor area, aged hipsters and curious teenagers adorned in thrift store garb stood with arms crossed or hands in pockets and bobbed their heads. In front of me, a husky twentysomething wore a Zeppelin shirt with a plaid flannel tied around his waist Bill-and-Ted -style . On stage, an Orange-brand vintage amplifier projected riffs from a used-bin ivory Fender Jazzmaster, which slacker guitar pioneer Stephen Malkmus was playfully strumming. The [...]
