Album: Biohazard – Reborn In Defiance

Biohazard Reborn In Defiance Nuclear Blast 20 January 2012 by Tom Dare It's all gone a bit awry for Biohazard recently. In the summer, they split with Evan Seinfeld (singer, bass player, porn star , and the one member of the band you'd be most likely to recognise in the pub) right on the eve of Download Festival 2011. Their first album in nearly seven years was, however, recorded with Seinfeld, so whatever happens from here on in, [...]

Lavalette - "Malfunction" (Cro-Mags Cover!) BlankTV Music Video Premiere!
New York Heart Core!!! Haha, this shit is straight up hilarious. Some band called Lavalette has released a full on pop version of "Malfunction" by Cro-Mags. Some people are getting their panties in a knot over it but who cares? I actually hope they cover some more NYHC. How about some Warzone or Agnostic Front? Oh, Gorilla Biscuits would be great! Hell, Civ even dabbled in MTV pop back in the 90'

They also derived influence from early Powerviolence pioneers, Infest. I'm old and tired and just can't deal with hardcore shows anymore but if there was ever one I would go to it would be this one. The legends of NYHC - Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front and Sick Of It All are headlining this year's Black N' Blue Bowl. Unfortunately, I'm out of town that weekend so I'm going to miss it but if you're around I highly suggest going. Gorilla Biscuits are fucking amazing

Tonight: Skarhead Playing Secret Show In Greenpoint

I went to the E Town Concrete reunion show last night. It was the second of two reunion shows. The first show on Friday had NYHC legends Skarhead open up and apparently they put on one hell of a show - despite only playing five songs. I just got word that Skarhead is the "special guest" at the Danny Diablo show tonight at Redstar Bar in Greenpoint. I'd be there but I'm battling a bout of

"World Peace" — The Cro-Mags

"World Peace" — The Cro-Mags There is something unnerving about the way people treat one another in NYC. The only way to experience it is to live here for awhile. I remember when I was 17 or 18 and I was at a show at 404 Willis, a hole-in-the-wall anarcho punk den in Detroit's Cass Corridor. Somehow my friend and I got in a conversation with this guy, Rat, in an alley close to the show. Rat was the real deal, and we were angry youth from the suburbs. Anyway, we were talking with Rat, and after throwing a brick through the window of [...]

The Rev. Paul Bearer…

The Rev. Paul Bearer… I know what youre thinking. No I'm not talking about the dude who used to roll with the Undertaker back when WWF was on Saturday mornings. The Rev. Paul Bearer was the singer for Sheer Terror(by far my favorite band of all time) and now he sings for a new group Joe Coffee(also fucking rad). I know this is a hip-hop blog but honestly I listen to mostly hardcore. A few months ago I got to see Paul do his thing at a spoken word at Deep Sleep in Philly. He just posted up a segment [...]

Show Review: Murphy's Law, Cross Examination at Fubar, 7/29/08

Show Review: Murphy's Law, Cross Examination at Fubar, 7/29/08 Last Night: Murphy's Law, Cross Examination Where: Fubar, 3108 Locust Boulevard Show Flyer: here The show preview by Jonah Bayer in last week's paper was true. "There's nothing quite like a Murphy's Law headlining gig, which is sure to leave beer-soaked hard-core fans with a giant smile on their faces instead of their usual grimace." Murphy's Law, in the same way it has done for more than 20 years, took to the Fubar stage Tuesday night, handed out beers [...]
