Back in August 2010 we featured a track by New Zealand post punk band Tiddabadés . A year and a bit has passed, and formed from the ashes of that band is Sunken Seas . So when Ryan from the band contacted us we were happy to feature this track. They are currently working on their first album, to be released early in 2012. Be sure Check out the video below too. Last night we brought you the completely unknown (other that a single track and video) The Black Belles, unlike other sites we continue whether it be weekend or not ;) We now have the new kids on the block, The Naked And Famous. Hailing from New Zealand they are David Beadle, Thom Powers, Aaron Short, Jesse Wood and Alisa Xayalith. This track were bringing you hit number 1 in the New Zealand charts this year and were expecting it to do pretty damn OK here too. 'Young Blood' most definitely comes at the right time for [...]
Kiwi prog-poppers Evermore aren't exactly standard fare around this blog, but that's about to change thanks to this extra-terrestrial remix from Sydney funkster DCUP . Fresh off a stellar bunch of tracks I already posted from the dude, DCUP is back and spinning the original into a shaking stomper of a track. Another reason that people should be paying attention to him. Evermore - Can You Hear Me (DCUP Remix) [ YS ] MYSPACE

I fell madly in love with Anika Moa's latest album during the two weeks I recently spent back home. It's a gorgeous, summery treat: a perfect accompaniment to a lovely (but oh so brief!) holiday with family and friends. You know when you have the stereo on in the background, though, and you really only give half an ear to the music? It wasn't till I got home (having been gifted the CD by my brother's boyfriend -- such a nice man) that I took a closer listen to the album. And I am now, [...]
Legendary kiwi rockers The Bats are to return this April with The Guilty Office , their first album of new material since 2005 (it'll be their 8th LP overall). It's coming out on Hidden Agenda and is available for pre-order now from Parasol . The record will be preceded in April by the 73 Don't You Rise EP, which collects four tracks from 1998-2003 and will be released by the mighty Slumberland Records . In other kiwi news, there's a rumor making the rounds that 2009 [...]
We here at Knox Road would not normally talk about a band like the Mint Chicks . The reason for this is because we really don't talk about bands from New Zealand a lot. Especially Jamie. But for this one time I will make an exception. The Mint Chicks describe themselves as "Troublegum Pop." I have to assume that they like this sort of label because "experimental noise-pop" doesn't really capture the essence of a band. The Mint Chicks were introduced to me by a friend that had just come back from spending a while in New [...]
With the Ladyhawke album dropping in like less than two weeks, I figured it would be time to share the excitement over the disc. Here's two jams from the record Professional Suicide and Manipulating Woman, and while there are better cuts on the album - like Dusk Till Dawn, Magic and My Delirium - they're still really solid and in a low enough bitrate that I hopefully won't get car bombed. Should be another huge one for the Mod Squad . Ladyhawke - Manipulating Woman Ladyhawke - [...]

This one's a disaster
Good morning! Here's a relatively new video for Street Chant's "Less Chat More Sewing". Street Chant, as you might recall, were included on the March mix—this song, actually. They're awesome and I love them and their new record, 'Means' has been getting loads of plays around these parts lately. Watch!

New Zealand music appreciation week II: Ladyhawke
I first came across kiwi lass Pip Browne (known to world at large as Ladyhawke) thanks to good ole Fairtilizer , but didn't listen to her album in full until late last year. It's been a constant on my ipod ever since. I love Ladyhawke, and not just because she comes from my hometown of Mastervegas . She's also a kickass songwriter and producer and she's got that 80s inflected indie-pop sound on lockdown, which is a sure way to get the nucleus accumbens area of my brain fizzing like crazy. [...]

EVERMORE
Yeah, Evermore. Looking like Starfuckers outcasts and playing a weird hybrid of Muse and Embrace with would-be Van She Tech production, this is new look Evermore is a bit of a shock. Evermore - Between The Lines from Scorpio Music on Vimeo . FACEBOOK MYSPACE

The kiwis invade, casually
This weekend marks the invasion of the kiwis, as both the box office and the boob tube welcome quirky New Zealand products. First, the film Eagle Vs. Shark hits theaters Friday (in limited run,) closely followed by the HBO television premiere of Flight of the Conchords . To be more accurate, though, it's truly a Wellington invasion, as this NZ town is the home to the creators and stars of both. Add to that the band The Phoenix Foundation , who wrote the music for Eagle Vs. [...]
