We're all bummed we didn't go the Dead show/Obama Fundraiser in State College. But at least we got Brian Cohen. Thank God for Brian Cohen. Here: Brian Cohen, 32, of Wolcott, Vt., drove 10 hours to catch the show. Cohen said he supports Obama but would have attended regardless. "Obama is really trying to be a good person, which is what Deadheads try to do," said Wolcott, coining the phrase used to describe the Dead's legion of fans. "We try to change the world [...]

[ORIGINAL POST AUGUST 25TH] US Presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain have each revealed their ten favourite songs to Blender Magazine. I realise this post is a bit of a cop-out but the post I've been working on is taking a little longer than planned. Anyhow I thought this was an interesting insight even [...]

i went to columbus, georgia on saturday, and i've never seen so much obama support. at a college football game, i saw a stand selling around 100 unique obama shirts. think about that. 100 different designs of shirts that support obama. why does obama get so much love!? do people even know what he is capable of? do they just dislike john mccain that much? do they think he can change the world? or are they doing it because he's black!? think about that. while you watch these videos. [...]

This is a pretty shocking article , to be honest. The shocking part isn't that the members of No Age were asked NOT to wear their pro Obama tshirts while taping for the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson - the shock comes when you find out that they actually played the show after being asked to remove the shirts. For the record: I don't have a problem with their decision to play. I mean, I am a little piqued that the network actually thought it was OK to ask the boys NOT to display their political preference on national [...]

I definitely think that the next President of the United States should be able to shred on a fixie. I mean, who cares about economics, foreign and domestic policy? Boring mainstreamers, that's who! It's time for Obama to amend his economic policy to include a Fixie Credit for all Americans. Yes/yes? (If you disagree - Fuck off, Un-American.)
Party For Change Plenty of artists see the importance of politics and being involved. This election has really brought out creatives for (mainly) Obama. Z-Trip Offers ‘Party For Change’ DJ Mix in Support of Obama. It's smoking and so is...

There's actually a pretty strange story behind this video as well. According to the No Age Blog , lead guitarist Randy Randall was set to play "Eraser" on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson wearing a Barack Obama t-shirt, when a CBS exec told him he would have to remove the t-shirt because of something called the "Fairness Law," which says TV networks are supposed to give presidential candidates equal amounts of on-air exposure. Solution: Randy turned the shirt inside out, scrawled "Free Healthcare" on the front in permanent marker, and put the shirt back on to perform. [...]

my fellow americans, we are going to do a few shows in hopes that we can remind people to vote. this election is too important, too much is at stake to stay at home. we hope that you can come out, have a nice night, dance, sing, get your freak on, and then wake up the next morning and get everyone that you possibly can to get out and vote. if they have early voting in your state then ask people to vote early, lets get everyone we can out there on election day. we are [...]

"Black President " remix off the "Yes We Can Mixtape" (Dropping on...Monday?). All three have good verses, and Obama sounds nice on the hook...Lets keep hopping on the bandwagon, maybe he'll get elected or something. But seriously, go vote

If electro indie pop group The Faint gets you swooning, then this is one interview you don't want to miss. Lead singer Todd Fink took the time to talk to Bethany about the band and how to live the good life when not on the road. Check it out: PopWreckoning, Bethany: So Fasciination was the first time you guys did everything in your album making process. What sort of new challenges did you face with that? Was it similar to remixing? Todd Fink, The Faint: Yeah, [...]

You'll remember that I've been impressed, amused, and intrigued by the Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt) and Brian Miller (Foot Village) online civic engagement brainchild Noise for Obama . No Age was very happy to chip in and offer an official artist statement pledging their allegiance to Senator Obama. They recently tried to do the same thing on late night broadcast television as well, but with less success. Did CBS censor No Age? From Arthur : Last week I got a call from Randy Randall, guitarist for Los Angeles [...]

By ANDY VIHSTADT In my family, mixing politics with alcohol is generally a bad idea. I’m guessing Z-Trip and the folks behind the Bacardi Live Tour felt the same way, which might explain why this was absent from his set at Abe & Jakes a few weeks ago. As promised, the turntablist has finally posted his free “Obama Mix,” which he’s been rocking during his campaign fundraisers. Grab the 54-minute set below. ZIP MP3 84.7MB: Z-Trip: Obama Mix
