30 artists pay tribute to the prolific singer-songwriter
New York's Cults have a deeply rooted love for pop's older and more sentimental side. Considering how referential this music is, these two must be extremely well-verse when it comes to the Spectors, Wilsons, and Meeks of the world. I'm sure they're even fans of artists in the Twee genre some people are so willing to label them with. The duo's style and sunny disposition is definitely the most solid thing this album has going for it-well, that's the case for some people, anyway. For me, it's these very things that are kind of pushing me [...]

I got to see that latest indie sensation, Cults, in concert last night - I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The venue is the somewhat historic Iron Horse Music Hall ("IHEG") in Northampton, Massachusetts. I've danced and booed quite a few times in the rustic setting - The Stars, Why? and The Blow have all been taken in at the former bohemian, hippy-dippy cafe. It's fun, it's intimate, they let you take pics during the performance sans a press pass. My feeling about the openers for [...]

I'm feeling pretty good about this playlist, take the time to check out a few songs 1. Shiv Hurrah- All my teeth fell out I've got this bad habit of forgetting to give a track list to my friends when i burn a mix for them. At least five times i've had someone call me up and ask "who sings the song that goes 'i had a dream that all my teeth fell out as i was just about to [...]

Making the last-minute switch to headliner at Johnny Brenda's on Saturday night, Cults took the stage after 11 pm and played a brief set (under thirty minutes) of the catchy, charmingly dark music that has garnered them so much 'buzz' over the past year. Read on for our exclusive interview with Cults where they reveal how they really feel about SXSW, their cult-like obsession with Twin Sister, and the (before unreleased) title of their upcoming album: On Saturday night Cults (albeit briefly) turned JB's into a sort of warped sock-hop, all while projecting black-and-white footage [...]

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Oh My God"] Sonata For Sale , [/caption] They say it's always an honor just to be nominated. Chicago's melodic pop-rockers Oh My God picked up a "Best Music Video" nomination at the Midwest Independent Film Festival for its song "Bring Yourself." The black-and-white animated video, order Sonata from mexican pharmacy , Buy no prescription Sonata online , directed by Metalocalypse artist Dan Bigelow, depicts the trials and tribulations of a man separated from his family due to a number of reasons, [...]
MOSTON & MALENTE - I Go Round from No Brainer Records on Vimeo . Es gibt zurzeit nix, was ich annähernd so gut finde wie Housemusic mit weiblichen Vocals drüber. Deshalb gefällt mir auch dieser Moston & Malente - Tune "I Go Round" so gut. Good Job, Flipacoin! Unbedingt [...]

I was very hesitant to post this song. Why? Well, I guess because it's pop, I guess because it's a song that you would probably hear on the radio. It's not weird, or hard to get. It's not overly distorted, or chill-wave, or lo-fi, or any other kind of bullshit. But, fuck it. It's a really really really good song. So I'm going to post it...bring on the annoying music snob commentary. It's one of those songs that is literally seconds from completely falling apart, from either the instruments blowing up, or everyone in the band giving up, or some [...]
Chicago's Oh My God kicked off their fall tour last Wednesday with a headlining at Pianos. The band's latest disc, The Night Undoes the Work of the Day , was released last year but the disc started taking on a second life with the recent release of videos for "My Own Adventure" and "Bring Yourself" (both from last year's CD). I had the chance to talk with Oh My God before the show (if you see them on tour, don't ask about the "Jesus Juice") and the video ends with a live performance of "Bring Yourself". [...]
Alive on the Vine by Readymade Breakup I was at Pianos last week to see Oh My God and arrived early enough to catch Readymade Breakup's set. I wasn't at all familiar with the band prior to seeing them play but will definitely make an effort to see them again. The band's sound ranges from Plimsouls/ Don't Tell A Soul -era Replacements guitar-driven power-punk to Paul McCartney & Wings style harmonic pop. The band's (currently untitled) third full-length is due out later [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. Something awesome is just around the corner, in case you haven't heard Malente now has his very own label titled No Brainer Records and the first offering is now ready to drop October 15th. Release number one, the aptly named Oh My God is an absolutely killer (watch the above preview for proof) collaboration between the man himself and Moston. Stay tuned for more info.

" Oh My God knock out glam-rock anthems with a twist, Ig's organ propelling the way. Their concerts are sweat-inducing events, with drummer Bish hammering away as theatrical frontman/bassist Billy O'Neill works the crowd. " — Chicago Tribune DOWNLOAD: Oh My God - "But That's Just Me" Chicago's Oh My God is kicking off their fall tour at Pianos in NYC on Wednesday, September 8th. The band is currently getting some attention for two very different video clips built around singles from last year's The Night Undoes the [...]
While the name John Martyn might not be familiar to all music fans, the English guitarist was a legend. Whether he was blurring the lines of rock and blues and folk, putting out some 20 albums over 4o years, or collaborating with Eric Clapton or David Gilmour, the music world lost a true virtuoso when he passed away at the age of 60 last January. Now, via TwentyFourBit.com , the man who has been called the father of trip-hop is being honored like any true music legend should be - with a tribute album featuring the likes of Beck, [...]

I wrote about Cults here way back in March when they released "Go Outside," the first single on their debut 73 which was released on Gorilla vs. Bear's Forest Family Records . The band just recently released "Oh My God," a new track that's part of Adult Swim's 8 singles 8 weeks feature (read more at GvB ). The new song is just as dreamy as "Go Outside," with an even catchier chorus and charming chimes. If you liked Tennis, who we posted about a few weeks back, you'd adore Cults. [...]

As Adult Swim 's impressive 8 Singles 8 Weeks comes to the end, it also leaves us with something to smile about. And most of it was extracted from (free) new tracks from Black Lips, Madvillain, Washed Out, LCD Soundsystem and a few more. The last installment was Cults ' ' Oh My God '. The track, which is helluva catchy pop gem, comes from Cults' sold out debut 7" single. Check out their site for more [...]

Here are three awesome bands I've had my ear on lately. Take a listen, investigate, then talk amongst yourselves. 1// CULTS Cults has way too much repeat power. Stick your fingers out and wave them in the air. Download their 7" for free off their bandcamp page! Cults - Oh My God http://cults.bandcamp.com/ 2// [...]
Last Cults post of the week. We brought you their single for "Oh My God," put that track in our latest Weekend Mix, and now we've got the music video for it. So what of it? It must be some career to make such decadent balloon costume/sculptures. Kudos to the guy who gets away with that.
