12 Ryan Adams is a bit of an indie rock god, so the proper way to cover him is to keep it simple. The songs are gorgeous- everything is there- just sing it with heart. I'm changing things up a little and using the version of "Oh My Sweet Carolina" that Ryan Adams recorded at the end of last year with Laura Marling at Abbey Road. The cover I've chosen is from two of my favorite parts of the Denver music scene and fantastic friends- Dan Craig and Jessica Sonner .

I'm headed to Philadelphia this coming weekend to see Adams play,...

Having been sent her record while working on Ashes & Fire , Ryan Adams appeared on Live From Abbey Road earlier this week with Laura Marling to perform the stunning Heartbreaker classic ‘Oh My Sweet Carolina.’ Marling’s delicate plaintive backing vocals take the place of Emmylou Harris’ voice, which originally appeared on the record when it was released in the year 2000.
As we head into the home stretch of 2011, two albums that we expect to make the litany of Best Of lists that will be hitting the interwebs in the next few weeks are Ashes & Fire and A Creature I Don't Know the latest records from Ryan Adams and Laura Marling respectively. Ryan Adams returned this year with the solid Ashes & Fire. In the record's promotional campaign he was keen to point out that when listening to Laura Marling's new album during the writing of his own, he realised he needed to start again. It's a special moment for two artists that are obviously [...]

"I thought: 'For fuck's sake'. I literally threw out 80% of what I had. And it felt good, to ask: 'What am I really capable of?' I felt competitive again to [...]
