Even though Silver Rocket's genre is listed as post-punk, I wouldn't be surprised if their album "Old Fashioned was in the possesion of a few perky-goths. Most of the album incorporates the old tried-and-true methods of deeper somewhat monotonous vocals, and the bass being brought forth in the sound, rather than being buried under the guitar. Such lyrics as, "The worst is yet to come....so kiss me," sound like shadowy laments that could have come from Robert Smith. I cant help but think of Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas every time I listen to Matt & Kims Good Old Fashion Nightmare. Its so light-heartedly eerie, so catchy yet creepy. The pint-sized husband and wife duo bring their inexhaustible energy to this tune, which is super distinctive thanks to its simple keyboard-strings-drum soundscape. Their comparison of lost teeth to white jewels and train yards to bone yards are a little out of left field, but just right for the cold and dark days of autumn-winter. Cee-Lo who has the song, "F**k You," at the tip of a lot of tongues performed a brand new song off of his upcoming studio album, The Lady Killer , out November 9 . The song is all buttered up with soul and its 1950's could easily be considered a Golden Oldie.
