Artist : The Twilight Sad Title : No One Can Ever Know Label : FatCat Records Release Date : February 6th BUY IT Written by Matthew Healy It is difficult to know how to start writing about the third album from Scotland's The Twilight Sad . Much has been made of of the ways in [...]

Ok this is insane. Ackryte hit me up yesterday to show me this, and it's seriously jaw dropping. He and KVZE sent forward Supreme Sol a selection of dope, fire beats, who recorded over them for 23 minutes, non-stop, one take, one continuous flow. I didn't believe it at first so I had to double check with Ackryte. Some mad mad skill. Costs a dollar (or more, if you think it's worth it), so not exactly a freeness; but what's a dollar when you can have 23 minutes of this? This project contains some of the [...]

It's fun to think about O.N.E.'s music because (it seems like) O.N.E. finds it fun to think about his music. How else to explain references to socioeconomic constructs, agathist paradigms, obvio... Continue reading "In Which John Holland Validates O.N.E.'s The Starting Five" >

As the gap between what many of us term as indie music and electronica becomes ever-more blurred it seems that many bands you would never have previously expected to are dabbling with synths and the like in an attempt to bolster and improve their sound. This of course is done with varying degrees of success and there are times when it feels both unnecessary and contrived. Thinking back to when I first heard The Twilight Sad 's debut LP Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters, I would never have [...]

CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO Ahhh I love it when live musicians flip beats in the same way beats flip live musicians. The DJ Cam Quartet are one of the best, and I posted about BADBADNOTGOOD a bit ago . Here's a lil something from Will Sessions: Will Sessions impressed many with the meticulous craftsmanship of their studio re-workings of the classic tracks for "The Elmatic Instrumentals." With their new two-part video "Mix Takes," the five-piece band is taking a similar approach in recreating some of their [...]
Raziq Rauf likes metal. Raziq Rauf likes prog. Raziq Rauf likes the internet. Here are his Top 10 Records of 2011.

That's right folks, our good brother $ has been a-workin on the railroad lately! His group Local Nobodies , which consists of him and fellow musical mastermind Mathien , just released this amazing full-length album One . I wish I had more of a backstory for you, but $uli leaves my ass in the dark all the time (*shakes fist*) so the onliest thing I can say is to download, shut up and JAM. You know how this works folks, track below for the pregame, full download [...]

CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO Ahhhh more One Be Lo. If you been following my posts you'd know that he's my favourite MC and I think even if he isn't yours you'd recognise him as one of THE nicest out there at the moment. This is his second video from his latest release L.A.B.O.R ., which you can cop on his Bandcamp. These visuals are dope. Toni Hill kills the chorus too. One Be Lo: Twitter • [...]
The new collaboration between Harvard and Bart B More Bass with the E.P The Ones on Secure Recordings. And for a good reason: between saturated and whirring sounds grandiloquent, the song is riding on this revival Dance which runs the "streets" at the moment, but it does it very well! What are you jiggle other [...]

Channel Live were/are a rap duo that really only made any waves in the game back in 1995 with this banger. Discovered by KRS-One , these MC's should have been able to capitalize at least on some underground success, but never really did. "Mad Izm", which features their protege KRS, was included on their 1995 album Station Identification . With two albums released since, I'm not sure really what Channel Live are up to these days, but "Mad Izm" is still fire. Go back to a different time with this one. Roll up music. [...]

MP3 Electronic music producer Teebs will be dropping a new release on November 8th via Brainfeeder . Though I wasn't in love with this last album, Ardour , there were still some tracks that drew up some pretty interesting sounds. I'm feeling that way about the first track to drop from Teebs' forthcoming mini-album, too. The quirky, Laurie Johnson-esque melodies feel like they'd fit snugly into the theme for a vintage sci-fi radio program. The beat is pretty pleasant, too. The song's title is "Cook, [...]
