While my fellow bloggers and all-around music loving nerds are spending spring break in good 'ol Austin, Texas for South By Southwest this week, some of us left behind in the cold, slushy weather are likely seething with jealousy. To warm us over and giving us something to look forward to, the good people at Osheaga released (after a [...]

It's been some time, but with only a few weeks left before the official Lollapalooza 2013 lineup is revealed, its time to get up to speed. As I have mentioned before over at The 405 , Billboard released word last month that the recently reformed Nine Inch Nails would be performing (although unconfirmed). The band would likely fill the legendary billing for the festival, taking up either the top or second highest billing on the list. Of the other North American festivals, no lineup has [...]

The big headliners are British post-punk legends The Cure and current Brit folk favourites Mumfords and Sons . There is a lot of overlap with a bunch of artists already scheduled to have Toronto shows either in the [...]

Going into Osheaga , a music and arts festival based out of Montreal, Québec, we really didn't know what to expect. Being Canadian we had obviously heard a lot about the festival since its inception in 2006, but we were always drawn to the hype and lure of its American counterparts, like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella. But this year Osheaga proved that it stacks up against its North American competition - it was the first time in the six year history of the festival that it sold out to capacity, with roughly [...]

Photo By: Jordan DiCecca Osheaga has easily become the largest music festival in Canada. This year's fest on Parc Jean-Drapeau in belle Montreal, hosted a three day music festival to over 120,000 people. That's a huge jump from the 80,000 of 2011. It's a festival I have frequented for the past 4 years, and I prefer to the hot and dry backdrop of say, Bonnaroo or Coachella. So what were the highlights and lowlights of this year's Osheaga? Well, I'll begin by saying, I missed Justice and it's now on a [...]

It was one of the few dates for Passion Pit this month after they cancelled much of their tour. Exclaim caught their set and wrote: Leadoff "Take a Walk" set Angelakos in motion, his [...]

photos by Dominick Mastrangelo Garbage/Feist/JAMC at Osheaga - 8/4/12 Nineties alt-rock heroes Garbage returned this year with a new album, a refreshed attitude and a Shirley Manson who looked like she hasn't aged a day in her life. What's more impressive, though, was the fact that their repertoire of classic cuts didn't sound outdated at all. Instead, we're reminded that synth-laden rockers "Push It" and "Stupid Girl" were, in fact, much more ahead of [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Frank Yang There was a festival storm roaming from city to city this past weekend, from the brief evacuation at Lollapalooza to the wet and wild HARD Festival, and on Sunday, the inclimate weather finally made its way to Osheaga . The rain was sporadic, but threats of storms were on everyone's minds as umbrellas and ponchos were out in full-force. Fortunately, just about every band played [...]

Ah. The Sunday of Osheaga, where everything lulls down and most of the crowds stay at home. That statement would be true about any other year at the fest. However, even with a very threatening weather forecast, the work week starting up, and tons of other things to do in the city of Montreal - Osheaga still sold out, and the crowds showed up, and the people smoked up, and the hippies and hipsters danced in the mud. Yes, the downpour came, and we welcomed it after a weekend of extraordinary heat. So, shall we get on with [...]
