Damian Abraham (Fucked Up's ringleader) has been doing a heckuva job since becoming the host with the most of Muchmusic's "The Wedge" back in January. Doing tons of interviews with bands and airing a few specials along the way. For this one, 45 minutes is devoted to those 3 days at Parc Jean-Drapeau for the Osheaga Music Festival last [...]

There are very few things that I look forward to all year. One of them is Christmas, because it's the only day I get to play Rock Band as a full band of family members. The other thing I look forward to is the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival that has been going on for six years here in Montreal. The festival is easily the highlight of my summer, and many other Montrealers, as well as out-of-towners. With Eminem headlining one of the three days this year (which I wrote a longer review on over here ), [...]
For this 6th edition (and first 3-day affair), I was only able to attend the last day. There was a snafu with my media accreditation application (try saying that fast 3 times) but kind lady in charge of these things was able to let me in yesterday so big ups to her. Highlights for me were Cypress [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Shirlaine Forrest, WireImage Moments before the last song, on the last day of Osheaga (July 31), Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne took several deep breaths and stopped the show. Having just finished a complete run through of their 1999 psychedelic comeback album, 'The Soft Bulletin,' possibly for "the last time ever," the shaggy Coyne -- looking somewhat stirred from the emotional [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Scott Legato, Getty Images Comparing the crowd between the first and second days of Osheaga proves a depressing study into the cultural currency of hip-hop versus rock. While Eminem brought a record-shattering 38,000 people to their knees with a swaggering performance on Friday night (July 30), Saturday headliner Elvis Costello and the Imposters managed to sway only 2,000 to stick around till the end of their set [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Jason Merritt, Getty Images Though the ticket read Osheaga , it could just as easily have been called the Eminem Show as a record 38,000 people packed Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau July 29 to watch Marshall Bruce Mathers III play only his third show of 2011, a 90-minute greatest hits set punctuated by a tribute to the late, great Nate Dogg . [...]
The 6th edition of Osheaga being only 3 days away, I thought I would give my recommendations for each days in music video form. What easier way to get a good sense of what those recs are about wouldn't you agree? Here goes: Tomorrow night, at the SAT, part of the "In The City" portion of the festival, L.A.'s electro/synth pop [...]
The last piece of the Osheaga 2011 puzzle has been unveiled today. The full schedule with set times. I must say, for the first time in 4 years, I do not have scheduling conflicts of any kind. I will be able to see everything I want to see. Yay me. I have bolded for my and your pleasure, the ones I [...]
![The Garrison on June 17, 2011 [NXNE 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3544816_lg.jpg)
I decided to hit up the Garrison during NXNE on a Friday night. It was part of Osheaga Presents showcase. The bill had Montreal acts except for one which was Rich Aucoin . I guess he apparently made a splash at last year's festival. Anyways I got there when Elephant Stone was playing. I forgot that this band was playing this year. All I can say is, that sitar is amazing to see live! [...]

After a wildly successful debut album in 2009, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart could have easily released a disappointing sophomore album this year. I say that because when you do so well right out of the gate, it's a difficult trajectory to improve upon. But I'd venture to say that POBPAH have done just that with their second album, Belong, have taken things up a notch with their fuzzed out, guitar heavy post-shoegaze sound. Yep, Belong is as good, if not better than the debut album, and you now get a chance [...]
Sick of Sasquatch? Bored with Bumbershoot? Just want more more more? Here's North of Northwest's second annual guide to Canadian summer music festivals. Dawson City Music Festival July 15-17, Dawson City, Yukon I've never heard DCMF described as anything but an amazing experience, a weekend of performances, creativity, and collaboration in a place whose very name conjures [...]
Not even a week gone by and already new additions to the the lineup have been announced. For me, what was missing this year from the roster was an old school Hip Hop act. Well how about Cypress Hill to fill up that quota? That my friends is pretty rad. You also have Canuck Indie Rock super collective Broken Social [...]

Osheaga has announced their 2011 lineup this week, and I can finally say that I'm excited. Not only are Death From Above 1979 going to be performing (huge), but we'll see appearances from Twin Shadow, Jamie xx, MSTRKRFT, Kid Cudi and more. Ratatat, Bran Van 3000, Eminem (whatever..), White Lies, Sia and Death Cab for Cutie will also bring in tonnes of fans. Check out Osheaga's official site for up-to-date info. The organizers had too much music on their plates this year that it could not be contained in merely 2 days, a third day had to be summoned. The 6th edition of this now 3 day festival goes down @ Parc Jean-Drapeau July 29th, 30th and 31st. Last year's lineup was pretty much unbeatable. Expectations were high for this [...]
