Discovr Music is an iPhone and Mac OS X application to help you find new music. It works in a similar way to last.fm but instead of listing similar music acts, it displays suggestions graphically in interconnected webs. There is also a version to show similar iPhone apps called Discovr Apps. There are some negatives to this application though. It's only available on the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS X 10.6 or later which means Windows or non-iPhone users can't use this resource at all. It's not a [...]
Le Internet medley genius song/video produced by the Israeli rocker The GAG Quartet. It's an incredibly tight and well produced video with some hilarious, and often quite subtle, meme references throughout. Le Internet Medley has been on youtube for just 9 days now and has already racked up over 5.5 million views. As far as I can make out, the medley goes: Nyan Cat, Ievan Polkka (Leek Spin), Keyboard Cat, Trololo, Chacarron Macarron, Numa Numa, Rebecca Black's Friday, Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, Chocolate Rain and then back to Nyan Cat. There's allegedly 40 memes in [...]

get-ctrl is in my opinion, the hottest, free tool for unsigned bands at the moment. A one stop shop where an artist can build a professional-looking, official website using a simple content editor complete with media players, galleries, news feeds and a gig calender. A bit like MySpace you're probably thinking but get-ctrl have really gone the extra mile with this service without feeling the need to ruin your bands all important public image by cluttering your page with cumbersome adverts. This music platform is also offering you the ability to simply make [...]

From Vinyl and Vodka: "We have finally finished the 2nd issue of Vinyl and Vodka Magazine. I’m so happy because the 2 months seemed like forever! I didn’t get much sleep at all and finishing the magazine in time was always on my mind. I intended to get the issue out by the beginning of February before Valentines day (if you click through the magazine you’ll see why) but that didn’t happen, so oh well. This issue features an interview with HEALTH and articles like The Internet and its Effect on the Music Industry, along with [...]
The official music video to the first single of Jónsi's upcoming debut solo album 'Go' has been released as shown below. A dark and glittery affair, the video is too fast paced for my liking but it defines Jónsi's style perfectly. 'Go' is now set to be released on the 5th of April 2010. The North American tour dates have been posted here and the first show is to be in Vancouver; a day after the album is released worldwide. No dates in other continents have yet been announced but [...]
The first issue of the Vinyl and Vodka Magazine is available. At the moment, it is thought the magazine will become a bi-monthly affair. V&V takes a minimalist approach in design to deliver an eclectic blend of music, fashion and culture in reviews, interviews, features and photography. The result is a fresh, new publication; full of content and yet completely uncluttered. Issue #1 can be read below (click for full screen) and advertising space is currently available for Issue #2. Visit the Vinyl and Vodka blog for more information.

Dave Mahler has created this music, this video and now this website. That's a lot of cliché 'this' hyperlinks but I guess that's what happens when one person does so much. Oh, and the IMF logo and the portrait opposite, yeah, a lot. He's editing a new music video for the Norwegian band Children and Corpse at the moment. You can see a still from it on his blog and I'll post the video here on IMF when it's finished. In the meantime, you can check out [...]

The developers, tried to make the "most expressive" instrument and they may well have succeeded. Created by Eigenlabs, this is quite possibly the future of electronic instruments. The Eighenharp is to come in two varieties, the Alpha and a miniature version called the Pico. Bear in mind that this isn't a true instrument in the sense that a clarinet or a guitar are but rather an elaborate input device to an infinite range of VST instruments. You'll need an amplifier to get a sound. The instrument is based around a variety of types [...]
Sophie Stratford is an up and coming music journalist. She writes gig reviews and they actually get put on paper. Her website with a collection of pieces she has written can be found here and she keeps a blogspot blog . Sophie Stratford is going to start contributing a few pieces to Indie Music Finds so hopefully the blog won't be as sparse as it has been as of late.

I've sworn by these earphones for over a year now. I'm pretty sure they're the best around for value (correct me if I'm wrong). They cost £13 in the U.K (from Play.com ) with free delivery. They're about the same in $ on Amazon.com too. The frequency range is 20-20kHz which I've been told is very good. They just sound amazing though, there's so much depth and the fitting is so perfect that you can hear very little of the outside world. Therefore you don't really need to play your music that loud and you don't [...]
Moof is a new browser based media library designed by the same man behind dailybooth , Jon Wheatley. It's still in it's early stages at the moment so expect more features to be added in the future. The main idea to this platform is to make the music social with the ability to send playlists to your friends. It also serves as a way to back up your iTunes library. You can export it as an .xml file and upload it to moof to have the ability to access it where ever you are. Moof [...]

Tailcast is a community for artists, writers and musicians to connect and collaborate with other artists and creative consumers.

This is another poem from Inua Ellam's book 'Thirteen Fairy Negro Tales' The book is available from Amazon here for £4. Dustbin Diaries -Inua Ellams Once upon a time, a young man gleaned from an archaic continent creamed in the light fantastic; from the borders of history baked before an African sun came to this kingdom of Babylon. This kingdom became his home. And as time turned its page suit followed his age [...]
Ideal is a British television program that is now in it's fifth series. The main character Moz, played by Johnny Vegas is a hash dealer in Manchester who runs his small business from his flat. Because of this, the entire program is set in his cluttered abode. I'd definitely consider it a comedy program although it's very surreal with the atmosphere constantly changing due to the bizarre story lines, I suppose you have to watch it to understand what I mean by this. Moz is frequented by many clients through out the program such as Brain, [...]

This is a poem from one of my favourite books Thirteen Fairy Negro Tales by Inua Ellams. The poem is the opening to the book which contains thirteen poems in total as the title would suggest. I'll post some more from this book at a later date so keep an eye out. You can buy the book from Amazon for £4 here . This is Inua reading the opening poem. Yes, the backing is the Pyramid Song (: Thirteen Fairy Negro Tales - Inua [...]

Throwboy is a brand of pillow that cater to the geek in you. The pillows are handmade by Roberto and are largely styled upon tech symbolism. Throwboy pillows are made from 100% fleece and filled with polyester fibers and are $29 each. The original range was a series of Mac OS X icons including Finder, Dashboard, iTunes, iPhoto, iChat and Photo Booth. A new range of chat pillows go on sale in June featuring some of your favourite phrases such as 'brb', 'omg' and 'wtf'. Also in the [...]
Bendito Machine is a strangely interesting series of animations. So far three have been made and the 4th is on its way called ‘Don’t Stop Running’. From the website, it would appear that 10 episodes will be made. It’s an amazingly effective animation style using silhouettes. The main theme of these clips seems to be human development issues such as industrialisation, capitalism and idolism.
The Bothersome Man is an usual Norwegian film released in 2006. It was the debut of director Jens Lien and shows an interesting view of life in a soulless city. It is of course in Norwegian but I don't really mind subtitles. I saw it around a year ago late at night on BBC1 and I don't think I ever would have come across it other wise. I'm very glad that I did though so I wanted to make sure other people could find out about it. The film's protagonist Andreas finds himself in a city with little idea of [...]
