My friend Kohwi sent over a remix of the track "Rhythm Hymns" by My Brother the Native . The accompanying video for the original track is so bizarre that I just cant place it, reminds me of the Flaming Lips or something. Very theatrical. Check out Kohwi's re interpretation of it below. It's super spaced out with a lot of reverse vocals, pretty cool stuff! Our Brother The Native - Rhythm Hymns (Kohwi Rework) by Kohwi
Our Brother the Native - Rhythm Hymns A rather cinematic music video sent over to him by my friend Megan .

Doing some inbox management today (and enjoying the fact that I no longer have to do this daily) and I thought this song sounded nice. I know nothing of Our Brother The Native or Ambassadeurs , but I like when they come together in this interesting/glitchy way. Our Brother The Native - Rhythm Hymns (Ambassadeurs Remix) by Ambassadeurs

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR [...]

Seeing Frightened Rabbit was, for me, something like trying to rekindle a romance that never really got off the ground. I remember hearing a lot of them when Sing the Greys came out in 2006 (and again in 2007), and thinking this was a band I needed to check out. And then, what? They fell off my radar for a good three years. In that time they released Midnight Organ Flight to pretty-damn-considerable claim, and toured all over the place, somehow always evading my probing-the-weekly-for-killer- shows eye. It's almost like the cute girl in science [...]
![Tonstartssbandht - An When - Does Are (release date: Aug. 14, 2009) [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1949544_lg.jpg)
Tonstartssbandht ... seriously? Why not something simple, like The Beatles, or The Ruttles? These fuckers are out of their minds though. An When is a must-have, super-lo-fi conscription of the chi of Ariel Pink [...]
Our Brother The Native is not everyone's cup of tea. Their new full-length, Sacred Psalms is one of the most experimental and unique sounding records I have heard this year. The unconventional elements are what make the album so appealing—it is full of unstructured compositions, scattered sounds and random noises; in addition, there is no solid form of direction in any of the songs; but once in a while, you get the Akron/Family and Animal Collective-like psychedelic rhythms—seriously, there are like a million fascinating things to discover! I really don't see anyone falling in love with Sacred [...]

Walking towards Horseshoe Tavern in the late afternoon with headphones clad and high spirit, I was leaping at the premise of hearing Peter Silberman's distort vocals lull me into trance and shouting back the lyrics to 'Head Rolls Off' by Frightened Rabbit. Meandering past the dimly lit bar and a few security officers, I found a snug position next to the stage between a set of speakers. The following three hours consisted of worn vocal cords, stolen set lists, and intermittent declarations of undying love to the various performers and audience members alike. Glowing underneath crimson stage lights, [...]

Although aware of the buzz surrounding Frightened Rabbit, I never bothered to read any of the reviews about them. I knew they were Scottish which is always a draw for me because of their country's past fantastic musical output. But something about their band name conjured images of something darker, perhaps intriguing. So it is quite the surprise after listening to their album "The Midnight Organ Fight" recently to find out that they're more musically straightforward than I'd expected. Not to say they aren't good - in fact they're better than most bands who dwell within that rootsy, indie territory. [...]

So the week is winding down and you're looking for something to do over the weekend? Lucky you, because the purpose of this post is to direct you towards some music in and around Dallas for this weekend, along with provide links to purchasing tickets, if available. Not sure I am going to be making it to any shows this weekend myself, but that should not stop you. Seeing a show without your pal Daigle is perfectly acceptable. Thursday, June 25 The Tallest Man on Earth [...]

I'm currently in the midst of my second listen through St. Vincent's sophomore album, Actor , and the hype is well justified as far as I'm concerned. Definitely pick up what will undoubtedly be one of the best albums this year. Other notable releases worth checking out include the very good Portland group Starfucker and their latest, Jupiter ; Akron/Family's Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free ; Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band's Outer South ; and Deradoorian's (Angel from Dirty Projectors) [...]

Artist: Our Brother The Native Album: Sacred Psalms Label: Fat Cat Release Date: 11/05/09 Link: www.myspace.com/ourbrotherthen ative Words by: Oliver Primus Reviewing the latest album by Our Brother The Native has possibly been one of the hardest jobs I've had in quite some time. For a start the band are completely new to me (even though 'Sacred Psalms' is the third album by this Californian/Michigan based band) and secondly the depth of musical referencing is quite staggering; which see easily rivals [...]

Our Brother The Native are not that new - they have released two records already on FatCat - but they're line-up has been recently reduced by one member as they prepare for their third FC release, a digital-only EP this October 20th entitled Parting Marrows . Now a two-piece (Josh Bertram on vocals, guitar, organs, harmonium and sax, and Chaz Knapp on guitar, keys and bass), the EP is a forerunner to a new full length that is slated to come out in early 2009. Although American, OBTN fits perfectly into the FatCat [...]

Na anderhalf uur kondigden zij doodleuk aan: Don't go or you' ll miss the next show. Wat bleek? Na een korte pauze speelden ze een tweede set van nogmaals anderhalf [...]
