For nearly two decades (since "The Birdman" took flight in fact) Our Lady Peace has been a staple in the Toronto alternative/hard rock airwaves. On April 3rd they will return with their eighth studio album Curve . You can get a sense of what to expect (although I'm sure you know what to expect from OLP) with the video for " Heavyweight ". Our Lady Peace play The Phoenix in Toronto on April 3rd.

Our Lady Peace was one of our guilty pleasures of the 90s. However, after a few good albums, the band took a turn for mainstream mediocrity. It's possible that their upcoming album Curve will turn them around to back to greatness. The new record arrives in stores on April 3. In support of the record, the band will head out for several weeks of touring. They'll play at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on April 5. Our Lady Peace tour dates: March 29th - London, ON - Concert [...]
I'm not sure if anyone out there has been clamouring for the return of Our Lady Peace , but on the off chance that you have been, you're in luck! The band will be releasing their new album, title still a mystery, in April. Enjoy(?) the video for the first single "Heavyweight" here:
Platinum-selling recording artists Our Lady Peace have announced an early Christmas present for their fans. On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, the song, "Heavyweight," was made available on iTunes in North America. All other DSPs will have the track beginning January 3, 2012. "Heavyweight" is the first single from Our Lady Peace's forthcoming album, scheduled for release in Spring 2012 . Check out the Lyric Video for "Heavyweight" In a note posted to fans at www.ourladypeace.com, the group writes, "We...

Quick...immediate names that spring to mind when the mention of Canadian musical acts come up in conversation? If you are imagining Celine Dion, Nickelback, Bryan Adams, KD Lang, Barenaked Ladies, Hedley, Wide Mouth Mason, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, Swollen Members, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne or Alanis Morissette...shame on you. Although these bands and (questionable) musicians helped to shape the landscape of the Canadian Music Scene, they do little convey how talented our country truly is. I meant to put this post together after Arcade Fire pulled off their Grammy victory for [...]

Julian, bud, you know this totally sounds like Radiohead, right? Not that we're complaining. The tune has legs. The thin electro-drums, the arpeggiated guitar layers, the frenetic vocals. Nikolai we see you bumping OK Computer on your iPod touch. OK, we're still cool. We like this song, just please don't go all Our Lady Peace on us and come back sounding like this on LP 5. All we ask. The Strokes - You're So Right via Rave's Raves Purchase / [...]

Toronto - Everyone who grew up as a teenager or a preteen in the 90s had Our Lady Peace 's second record, Clumsy . Nevermind the fact that the band has spent the past decade trying to be Canada's crappier version of U2 (and abandoning the older fans in the process), this album was pretty damn good in it's hey day. If you are like me, you were probably always wondering - what in the holy hell was Superman's Dead about? Lets take a look at the lyrics: [...]

A bunch of my friends went to Edgefest 2006 , at the Molson Amphitheater in Toronto. My friend G accidentally got sort of really, really fucking wasted before the headliners, Our Lady Peace , could take the stage. My friends, including G's girlfriend K, dragged G's sorry carcass back to our apartment complex and put G to bed, with a trail of puke marking the path from Ontario Place to 50 Steph. (Yeah, we all lived in the same building, just like a bad version of Friends . Or maybe a good version, with lots of [...]

by teepoo I know this topic is rather random. Feeney one of our writers here has a webcomic that focuses on the life of fish as they struggle to understand popular culture and life. HereFishieFishy has just recently moved to tumblr so go follow and reblog! As for songs, this is a rather weird topic to deal with in terms of songs. I mean how many songs about fish can you think of off the top of your head? Enjoy this random list of songs! [...]

An idiom is generally a colloquial metaphor — a term requiring some foundational knowledge, information, or experience, to use only within a culture, where conversational parties must possess common cultural references. Therefore, idioms are not considered part of the language, but part of the culture. As culture typically is localized, idioms often are useless beyond their local context; nevertheless, some idioms can be more universal than others, can be easily translated, and the metaphoric meaning can be deduced. I am dating a grammar nazi. Well I thought I was. That was until she used [...]

All of this Olympic curling talk made me dig out my DVD of the Canadian comedy Men With Brooms . Starring cutie Paul Gross , who also co-wrote and directed it, the movie follows four men trying to seek personal and professional redemption on the curling sheet. Throw in a love triangle, goofy Leslie Nielsen , a huge dude in a kilt, a cameo by the Tragically Hip , curling cheerleaders, and a folk o' beavers, and you have yourself one hell of a slice of Canadiana. The ironic part of this [...]
Given the multi-national nature of the Olympic Games, it's only appropriate that the entertainment for this year's winter extravaganza will be equally diverse. As illustrated in our Music Fan's Guide to the 2010 Winter Olympics , Vancouver will hear everything from indie pop (Feist) and alt-rock (Wilco) to hip-hop (K'Naan) and electro-friendly DJs (Chromeo). As we recently learned, you can also add Devo into that equation, as the legendary new-wave outfit is now set perform live at a medal celebration in Whistler, B.C., on February 22nd. And, get this: the performance will supposedly be broadcast on NBC. [...]
