So, if you never noticed, we like Apple products. Wouldn't go so far as to say we're die-hard/purist fans, since we jailbreak every iOS product we own, but Apple makes good stuff. Have you seen the Apple store in a mall lately? That place is non-stop. They're awesome at marketing and make pretty electronics though. Honestly, Apple is more of a phone/portable electronics maker to us than a computer company, but gadgets are pretty exciting. At any rate, after owning multiple iPhones / fewer iPads, some of the best cases are made by Speck Products. They make some [...]

If I were able to teleport back to 1983 and show my iPod to that year's version of me, it would undoubtedly blow my mind. Obviously being visited by a being claiming to be myself from thirty years in the future would be mind blowing, but a device smaller than a cassette case containing 40,000 songs would have been the most amazing thing that I'd ever seen. At the time, I'd been buying albums - in cassette form - for a year or so and I doubt that I had more than two dozen of them. [...]

I'm sure that if you spend a substantial amount of time on the internet, you'll have already seen the following (I've seen it pop up on Twitter several times) but if not, you need to. Out of Print make tees and sweaters with a print of the cover of a classic novel . Moby Dick, The Catcher in the Rye, On The Road... You name it they've got it! So, this is the deal: these t-shirts will make you appear cool/intellectual, you're supporting an independent company, you're wearing a beautiful design & last [...]
![Thee Oh Sees / Intelligence – split – Mount Saint Mountain Records [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2243235_lg.jpg)
The holy grail, the one true moment, the END ... all that shit; that's what finding a record like this is all about. The fabled Thee Oh Sees / Intelligence split has been Out Of Print (OOP) fo' as long as I can remember, tough to find unless you wanna shell out $35-odd on e-Bay. I ended up paying $25 for it so ... it could be debated I got a good deal and vice-verse (and anyway I had Thee Oh Sees' tracks already on the [...]

The now defunct Virginia-based Skywave is a name you might not recognize, but their lineage is rather important in the second generation shoegaze (or "newgaze" as it's sometimes referred) movement. Synthstatic is certainly their best, and I first heard it my freshman year in college in 2003 when we received the record at the ol' campus radio station. It was the loudest thing I had ever heard at the time, and I think I played a cut off it during my show every week for six months. It might still be the loudest record I own, [...]

You Made Me Realise , the name given by fans to an actually untitled EP, is rather universally accepted as the jumping off point for My Bloody Valentine 's renaissance in the world of noisy shoegaze pop. The record was released three months prior to Isn't Anything , and to our ears is actually a step ahead of that record. The guitars are noisier, the sounds more abstract, and the overall feel is darker, much more in line with Loveless . "Slow" is a testament to the bendy guitar riffs that would later [...]
A little blast-from-the-past treat this mornin': Eleven mighty years ago, way back in 1997, local label Big Iron released a now-out-of-print little Christmas gem called Honky-Tonk Holidays: Christmas ... Continue reading "The Old 97's Wish You A "Holly Jolly Christmas"" >

Kenneth Higney is a rock musician whose only album, Attic Demonstration , became a cult favourite amongst record collectors. It was recorded in 1976 as a means of selling his songwriting services to other musicians, but was released as a commercial prospect. Attic Demonstration featured Higney on vocals and electric guitar, with an ad-hoc band consisting of Higney's personal friends Gordon Gaines (guitars, drums), John Duva (bass guitar), and Mark Volpe (guitar, percussion). It had a limited release of 500 copies in September 1976, and earned a favourable review in Trouser Press magazine, but [...]

" Kensington Blues is the follow-up to Raag Manifestos , which consisted almost entirely of breathless modal improvisations, recorded with a mixture of live ambiances. There's a more consistent studio sound here, but the material is more varied, with the album as a whole providing a neat summation of Rose's steel-string talents. The title track is a bright and optimistic opener, which could pass for something from one of John Fahey's early Takoma albums. Rose has admitted having had to work hard to transcend that influence on his playing, and has joked that contemporary finger-pickers like himself are [...]

"Freshly excavated from the depths of obscurity this is the one and only album from singer-song writing duo Sonny Hahn and Doug Miller and itís somewhat of an undiscovered gem as well. Originally released in 1971 on the Jubilee Group's "Euphoria" label (EST1) this quirky album mixes some fine eccentric British style psych with some outstanding heavy fuzz, particularly on the great "Hey Sun". The thoughtful lyrics deal with serious concerns (Vietnam, drugs etc..) and the guitar work is exemplory. Filled with dreamy and melodic harmonies and wistful vocals this little slice of pysch should remain unheard no longer. A [...]

"This hour-long CD is one of the best bodies of British psychedelia ever released. It contains the complete Mighty Baby album from Head Records, expanded to 13 tracks with the addition of five tracks cut by the Action during its 1967 transition period. The opening number, "Egyptian Tomb," sets the tone for the entire album ó in terms of content, structure, and beat, it sounds like the early Allman Brothers, or maybe the Grateful Dead in one of their harder-rocking moments, jamming with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on an impromptu version of CSN's "Pre-Road Downs." The beauty [...]

They're named after a track on a Guru Guru album. You're going to love them. Also, they have have released albums on aRCHIVE, Last Visible Dog, Beta-lactam Ring, and Important Records, and recently released a collaborative album with Bardo Pond, fittingly titled "LSD Pond". LSD March was formed in 1996 by Shinsuke Michishita, Makoto Inoue and Kohei Michishita. They were mostly a live band, and performed mostly in Western Japan. Before the release of their first album, Kohei left the band, and some guy named Bill joined the group. The first proper LSD March album was released in [...]

Photo Credit: Cluas Today's "Treasure From The Collector's Slum" is a very personal and very exciting download, which has been made available courtesy of Ian. You see, back in the year 2001, one week after my graduation from High School, Ian, our friend Bret and I decided we were going to see Grandaddy and Coldplay (don't say anything! Don't say anything!) at Radio City Music Hall. I had been trying my hand at recording live shows for a year or so, and I decided I would try my best to record both bands [...]
