The official lineup for Outside Lands Festival 2013 is here, and it looks to be pretty good. Topping off the bill are Paul McCartney, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, Vampire Weekend, D'Angelo, Kaskade, Pretty Lights, Jurassic 5, Willie Nelson, Hall and Oates, and Grizzly Bear. Rounding out the eclectic lineup are Wavves, Young The Giant, Band of Horses, A-Trak, Yeasayer, Matt & Kim, The Tallest Man on Earth, Foals, Youth Lagoon, Gary Clark Jr., Jessie Ware, Dillon Francis, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Surfer Blood, [...]

Outside Lands has revealed the lineup for this year's festival, which will take place August 9th-11th at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. Paul McCartney, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The National top this year's bill, appearing alongside Vampire Weekend, D'Angelo, Kaskade, Pretty Lights, Jurassic 5, Willie Nelson, Hall and Oates, and Grizzly Bear. Last weekend, Outside Lands took place in San Francisco. During the madness of the festival, Jack White found some extra time to do an impromptu in the woods! Included in the set though with his all female band were renditions of "Hotel Yorba" and "Love Interruption". The latter is after the jump while the White Stripes classic is up at the top.

The previous day’s excitement hadn’t worn off, as I arrived early for day two of Outside Lands. Starting off with Tame Impala, led by Kevin Parker’s fuzzed out guitar and woozy vocals, the group sounds similar to the Beatles later work. Like an acid trip, sonically wavering from steady melodic revving, before lifting into euphoric guitar distortions, their set was captivating, mind-altering and awesome. Even the weather seemed to agree as the fog thinned in spots, creating angelic glimmers of the sun. When their set finished, and yes, I stayed until the very end, I made my way [...]

The previous day’s excitement hadn’t worn off, as we arrived early for day two of Outside Lands. Julie Logan roamed through the park, catching Portugal. The Man, Alabama Shakes, Explosions in the Sky, before sneaking her way back stage for Passion Pit.

In all my years as a festie, I've never been to a festival where gloves seemed like a perfectly sound idea. But San Francisco defies the logic of California (as comedian Marcus Monroe put it, "It's summer, so tell your fucking city that"), with cool days and downright cold evenings.
