It's hard to believe that just one year ago, Thomas Gold was opening for Steve Angello on New York's Governors Island as part of the Size Matters squad. Well, this year he returned to the island along with a new crew, new label, and new material — and this time around, he was the star of the show. Actually, he was the star of two shows, having played at Pacha NYC the night before. Safe to say that New York was poised to receive two very special shows from one of the most exciting [...]

Over the last year, Paige has exploded onto the circuit with his ‘massive beats and captivating vocals’ , wowing crowds during Miami Music Week, supporting Robbie Rivera at his Juicy New York show, and joining Avicii on his College Tour. Oh, and he even opened for the one and only Eric Prydz when he made his grand return to NYC (he also happens to be signed to SPIN Artist Agency, which is home to Prydz, Avicii, and Armin Van Buuren). Tonight the 21 year old will make his headlining debut [...]

To complete the Thomas Gold NYC double-header, the faithful waited patiently (or not so patiently) to board the Governors Island bound ferry in the glaring sun this past Sunday. In what has become a ritual exodus on summery weekend days, neon-clad and shouting fans descend upon lower Manhattan for their chance to see one of the many acts booked to entertain them at the beach front venue, to the obvious confusion of the many tourists milling about the downtown transportation hub. 'Concert?' they mime in feeble English. 'Yes' is the response, but not the sort of concert [...]

Thanks to PachaNYC and RPM, Thomas Gold made his mighty return to the Big Apple this weekend with not one, but two huge shows. Saturday night Gold took the reigns at the familiar Pacha decks, which marked his third time at the venue since last August. After having the pleasure of seeing Gold earlier in March at a small venue in Connecticut, the night brought great anticipation to see what fanfare he would bring to the big city. Earlier in the week, Gold promised ‘something special’ for the weekend in an [...]
Though the summer is unfortunately drawing to a close, the parties and club events show no sign of slowing down. This Friday, August 17th, up-and-coming New York DJ/producer Paige will make his headlining Pacha debut — and if you haven't yet heard his name yet, you can expect that to change over the next year. He has already played gigs at Governors Island and even EDC New York, so he is bringing along some friends to make his big Pacha NYC evening even more special: Deborah Cox will deliver live vocals from her upcoming track with Paige, "Higher," (and a [...]
It's no secret that we at Dancing Astronaut are big fans of the German mega-DJ Thomas Gold, and we are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting his return to the one and only Pacha NYC this Saturday, August 11th. Of course, we want our readers to party in style, so one grand prize winner will win a VIP table for four people with a complimentary bottle of champagne - or energy drinks for the under 21 crowd. As if that wasn't good enough, it will also come with a Pacha gift bag filled with various kinds [...]

Though it took until the week of to sell out, expectations ran alarmingly high for Eric Prydz' return to New York City. On the day of the show, nearly every dance music enthusiast without tickets was clamoring for a last minute chance to see the one and only Pryda. While there was no shortage of hype for the show, there was a shortage of space at the venue, Beekman Beach Club, which filled up quickly and felt at or near-capacity by midnight. If you did your homework, this wouldn't have been a surprise; Beekman has had its fair share [...]

Nothing ever goes as planned. Not even Eric Prydz’s night in New York City. As much thought and preparation that went into bringing Sweden’s never-getting-on-a-plane-OK-I ll do-it Prydz to the Big Apple, everything went array-leading to one of the most memorable nights in New York City dance music history. Before the shenanigans, frantic promoters and angry neighbors (which will be explained later,) there was Prydz. He is the folk legend DJ that seldom left Europe, the equivalent of the cranky old man down the street who seldom leaves his home. It seems like for the past few [...]
You may have heard that Thomas Gold will be returning to New York's Governors Island this August, but what you haven't heard is that you have a chance to win a trip to the show courtesy of the man himself. A new contest on Thomas' website will send one lucky winner and a friend to either his Governors Island show on August 12th, another pair to his show at Pacha Ibiza on the 24th with Axwell and Pete Tong. The winner will receive flights, accommodations, and entry for two people, while all entrants will receive a free five-minute mini mix [...]

July 7th was the hottest day New York City has seen this summer with temperatures flirting above 100-degrees. It was also Alessandro Lindblad's 21st birthday, and in the dance music world, that meant one thing — a monster celebration. Last summer, Alesso joined his mentor Sebastian Ingrosso at Pacha NYC to play an unidentified track that would become "Calling." This summer, he took another leap towards maturation — both as an artist, and as an adult — selling out New York's greatest summer venue and throwing the birthday party of the year. [...]
Breathe easy - the much anticipated new track from Afrojack 'Rock The House' is now set for release July 16 on his own imprint Wall Recordings. Afrojack is going ham on his Jacked Tour, and opened up with this banger when the gang landed at Pacha NYC last week. 'Rock The House' is a single being cherry picked for release from his forthcoming album (can't wait!) and it boasts the signature high energy stylings that Afrojack is known for, along with the Dutch bleeps we have all come to know and love.
Time and time again I repeat myself in saying that there HAS to be something in that Dutch water that allows their native DJ's and producers to become so talented yet versatile, and the JACKED team, consisting of Afrojack, Quintino, R3hab and many more, is the definition of this fact. When it came to reviewing their most recent [...]
Eric Prydz is single-handedly taking over this year. If you haven't heard yet, 2012 marks the first year that Eric Prydz, who also goes by the monikers Cirez D & Pryda, returns to North America. Due to a fear of flying, Prydz hasn't been able to cross the seas to America since 2007. Besides his epic return after a 5 year [...]
The illustrious JACKED team aka the Wall Recordings boys are back in town! This Thursday, Pacha NYC will play host to three of the biggest Dutch DJ's in the game: Afrojack, R3hab, and Quintino. As the US leg of the #JACKED tour is slowly coming to an end, Afrojack and friends had to make sure [...]

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano seem to always have two things on hand during their performances: energy and dance-ready beats. Friday at Pacha was no exception. Unlike the increasingly stale sets of late, I was able to enjoy an evening of lesser-known tracks - a given in most SJ+RM events. The set was refreshing but familiar, employing a mix of new tracks and familiar favorites that worked the Pacha crowd. At no point during the performance did I find myself rolling my eyes and wishing for the next transition. Instead I was able to spend most of my time wondering what they were [...]

Vamp Ire , by Kanada 70 Affaires Étrangères , by Pacha Transit Of Venus , by Hangedup & Tony Conrad - In November 2010, Constellation Records released the mixtape for their first Musique Fragile box set. The new imprint emphasized regional artists, relatively limited pressings, and beautiful packaging. The first release featured three albums: Silent Your Body Is Endless by Khôra, Brulez Ce Coeur by Les Momies De Palerme, and Avestruz by Nick Kuepfer. Katie English, writing for Fluid Radio , wrote [...]

Madeon, Madeon, Madeon, Madeon— Madeon . The 17-year-old DJ slash producer has a lot of folks talking as of late. People are into this kid…to the nth degree. Gotta admit that we’re pretty excited that he’s coming to America this summer. Right after he gets off the stage with Swedish House Mafia at Milton Keynes for One Night Stand, he’s heading to our shores for the Identity Festival on July 19. We’re not very big on the fact, though, that other than the string of Identity dates he’s only playing Pacha in NYC and Lollapalooza in Chicago. No [...]

Hot on the heels of the East coast’s first Electric Daisy Carnival , New Yorkers are already whispering about events like Identity Festival and Electric Zoo. However, DA would like to make it clear that there is still tons of partying to be had this summer and the list of events will congest the calendars of even the most dedicated ravers. Starting things off right, June will be a huge month for partying in the New York area – DJs from various genres will be playing at a wide range of venues that should be able to [...]
