A year ago tomorrow was when I first introduced the English band Palace to the Indie Bands Blog . They have a new EP coming out imminently All Of This Is Real . Palace Loose Tooth has been released as a taster to the main body of work. Join the Indie Bands Blog on Facebook [...]

Animal Collective 's new Monkey Been to Burn Town remix EP is out later this month on Domino , featuring new re-imaginations from Gang Gang Dance, Teengirl Fantasy, Traxman , and most importantly, as far as we're concerned, this towering, dystopian monolith of a remix by the great Shabazz Palaces , who deconstruct Centipede Hz standout " New Town Burnout " and send its remnants hurtling into space. There's also a brilliant encrypted verse from the Palaceer, [...]

Since the release of Metropolis Part 1 , The M Machine has toured around North America and Europe, supporting Skrillex , Porter Robinson , and even headlining gigs of their own. Finally, after nearly a year of waiting, they've released the second part of their electronic fantasia on OWSLA . Metropolis Part 2 concludes their first full-length album, an homage to a 1920s film of the same name. You'll instantly recognize The M Machine's distinct sound upon hearing the first track, The Palace , a [...]

I had never head of The M Machine until I heard this mesmerizing track by the San Franciscan trio. The tune, which features instrumentals and vintage-sounding vocals, is a refreshing break from typical fist-pump tracks. The song starts out with melancholic piano chords that give way to a groovy electric guitar riff. High-pitched vocals then lead to a drop that hits you harder than a moving truck. Enjoy! The Palace - The M Machine (feat. Blake Hazard) - Jourdann Lubliner
Brit four-piece Palace may hail from smoggy ol' London, though that's not to say that they've neglected to derive inspiration from all manner of woollen, latter-day Americana. The buoyant, momentarily mathy Ocean Deep however also parts the way for hyperbolic affirmations of the troupe being about the closest we've come to our very own Dirty Projectors, as it swings high off an acrobatic vocal redolent of Hayden Thorpe, Gwilym Gold and Yannis Philippakis all at once. Ocean Deep by Palace Though more impressive still are the squiggly guitar lines and bristly [...]

The M Machine has unleashed the first single from their upcoming EP, Metropolis Pt. II . "The Palace" is an electro banger that with some dreamy synths and vocals from Blake Hazard of The Submarine taking you through a journey of time and space. Metropolis Pt. II is out February 19th on OWSLA.
San Francisco's The M Machine is following up its Bruno Mars remix with a taste of what the awaited Metropolis, Pt. II has in store. The first single off the 6-track EP is "The Palace," an electro-dubstep tune with The M Machine's signature ultra-feminine vocals. The trio enlisted The Submarine's Blake Hazard for vocals and went with a dreamy piano and synth intro before unleashing the drop. A dubstep track of the thoughtful sort, "The Palace," pays testament to the twitter hype: Metropolis, Pt. II is due February 11 on iTunes [...]

New fave Palace has only just dropped his Trust EP on Unknown to the Unknown (one of the most on-point imprints around right now), and already there are a couple of new tunes up on his soundcloud. These two new tracks are more straight-forward, tech-y numbers than the wonky, bass-driven "Trust," and "Dreamscape" especially sounds monstrous and brooding with its deep vocal sample, and is just slightly swung.

I have a confession. I spotted this murky, soulful rejig of Tweet's R&B classic 'Oops' about a month ago and totally forgot about sharing it with the EgoThieves family. Regardless, East Londoner, Palace , has managed to transform Timbaland's ever effective mastery of production into something minimal yet touching. Late contender for my favourite remix of the year.

Palaces are a ferociously aggressive and noisy trio that like to explore the darker and more abrasive side of metal and hardcore. I was introduced to them by their drummer, Jonathon Balsamo, who also mans the kit for Latest Disgrace faves Sorry No Ferrari (so you know their potential for extreme shredding and dizzying shifts in pacing and time signatures are high). The band recently unveiled their debut full-length, Tarnish , on their Bandcamp page, and while its eight tracks for the most part kick, claw and scream over pummeling riffs and flailing hardcore [...]

While September was a solid (but ultimately slow) month for local music with impressive new releases from the likes of Slowriter and Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics , October looks like a shoe-in for the best month of local music this year (for me anyway). The diversity might not be as clearly articulated as it has been in months past, but the quality to quantity ratio is off the charts. Fan of heavy music? BAM. We've got new music from Wizard Smoke and the debut EP from experimental post-metal outfit Stallone . You like [...]

We've been quietly beside ourselves chez Flavorpill of late awaiting The Lost Tapes , the collection of hitherto undiscovered and/or unreleased Can tracks that's due out this week. It's the crowning glory of a six-month period that's been pretty great for reissues/remasters/compilation s, so we thought that with the midpoint of the year nigh, it'd be a good time to go ahead and share the other old/new material that has floated our collective boat in the past several months. As ever, we're open to suggestions as to what we might have missed, so let us know what's been on your [...]
Si [...]
