![Karkwa with Parlovr & I Spell It With Nature @ Ritual [December 1, 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3903532_lg.jpg)
Wow it is already December! The first show of the month happened at Ottawa's Ritual Nightclub on December 1, 2011. Playing there was Karkwa , Parlovr and I Spell It With Nature . You can say it was Francophone night at Ritual. Kind of deja-vu considering Malajube played at Ritual on November 10, 2011. I still find it fascinating that Francophone music fans are very supportive to acts like Karkwa and Malajube . [...]

Indie sloppy alterna-pop rockers Parlovr (pronounced Parlour but lately been going with its spelled named) is my favorite Montreal band . While we wait breathlessly for their second album Kook Soul on Dine Alone Records. Word has it that the album will drop sometime in Spring 2012. Listen to Holding On To Something . I still can't stop listening to Pen To The Paper . Here is the music video. Don't forget [...]

There are many similarities between seeing a band and making love. The first time with someone new is always filled with anticipation, uncertainty and intrigue. If you're lucky it turns out pretty great. But with a repeat performance, the parallels become even more poignant. Sometimes you are more disappointed than you were the first time. Often as one matures, there is slow improvement as skills progress; and rarely, like Thursday night with the Rural Alberta Advantage , it's like seeing someone you're completely in love with after being apart for a while. You know that [...]
![Cobra & Vulture and The Mark Inside @ Café Nostalgica [October 28, 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3825244_lg.jpg)
After seeing Roberta Bondar and missing Bad Vibrations and Shameless at Babylon. I headed up to Café Nostalgica (which I thought was suppose to be closed in September in rebuilding it) to see Montreal's Cobra & Vultures . If you don't know they were formerly known as Nightwood. This was their first show in Ottawa with the new name. They were a last minute addition in opening up for Toronto's The Mark Inside . I haven't seen [...]

With all the bands/artists strolling through NYC this past week for CMJ, I was looking forward to one in particular, Parlovr. I caught them at a showcase @ Bruar Falls, and it was bittersweet. (Bitter) - When I arrived at the venue they were already playing...pretty sure the calendar event listing had the wrong time, so I was only able to enjoy a short part of their already brief set. (Sweet) - However, I thoroughly enjoyed what I did get to see/hear. Fixed on a rather tiny stage with a minimalistic set-up (guitar, keys, drums) and playing to a sparse [...]

![Corbra & Vultures – Seer [EP Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3699366_lg.jpg)
I always wondered what was going on in the Nightwood camp. Besides the drummer Jeremy who has been busy with Parlovr . (Guys when is the new album??) Anyways back on the topic. Low and behold, received an email from them here and is what I got. Friends, we are pleased to present our band. We still love Nightwood, but that is now a band from before, and here is Cobra & Vulture . Don't worry! Same band members just a different name. [...]

Montrealers know how to have a good time. At least, if Parlovr (pronounced either "parlour" or "par-lover") is any indication. Opening for Handsome Furs at Minneapolis bar the Triple Rock last night, the Montreal trio started their set with a "giant orgasmic scream" of which the audience was required to participate in. It didn't stop, either. The ensuing roar built to "Hell, Heaven", the half-title track off their 2010 EP Hell/Heaven/Big/Love , accenting a tight and quick set through and through. Rather unique were the glowing traffic light arrows that pointed to each member; each [...]

I didn't become an actor until I was an old man of 28 or 29. I declared to the world that I was an actor. Nobody heard me, but I did declare it. Download : The Dodos – "Don't Stop" / Buy The world's gotten very noisy, have you noticed that? I have two moments of intense concentration in my life. One is when the waiter describes [...]

Another North by Northeast music festival is in the books, and with it, the bustling metropolis of Toronto is a little more quieter. Between June 15th and June 19th, an estimated 650 artists representing any and every genre you can think of played well into the Toronto night at close to 50 downtown venues. Streets where a great deal of bars are clumped together, like Queen West, the festival headquarters at the Hyatt Regency hotel on King, as well as the public square at the [...]
It's June and it means the start of the summer festival season. NXNE is happening very fast and this will be my third time attending it. I always have a fun time attending NXNE. You can go check out what I did on previous NXNE coverage on here . This is part one of who *whoever is in Toronto* to check out at this year's NXNE. *This list will change during the night of the festival.* Here is a list of who to check out on June 15, 2011. Already I am too [...]

This is a surprise, I finally went to my first show at Le Petit Chicago in Gatineau (I still call it Hull) on April 23, 2011. I was there to see my favorite Montreal band Parlovr and Final Flash . Sadly I didn't get to see Final Flash due to be a late show. At first I thought it would be just those two. But it happened to be a " M for/pour Montreal " showcase so they needed to add like two local acts (mostly from Gatineau) for it. [...]
