There is no doubt, Le Matos made one hell of a remix here. The heaven descent vocals of Coeur De Pirate and the wonderful synth works of Canadas finest became an insta classic when I first heard it. This collab was meant to be and this remix will never grow old, pure gold and a well deserved 1st pick. I said it back then, and I'll say it again, more Le Matos feat Coeur de Pirate PLEASE. mp3 Coeur De Pirate - Comme Des Enfants (Le Matos Remix) [...]
It has been a full year since the BOTR series graced this humble page. And I do apologize. I apologize. But it is far better to apologize than to eulogize. And in the end it is far better to actually post music than to take months off (sorry mates, but deadlines at work and real life adventures are simply dominating my time). I started this series, and the BOTM series, because in my previous life I had much more free time than anyone else on the face of the planet. Literally. Well since then I landed a fairly [...]
10. Passion Pit - The reeling To be honest, it's Manners is just a great album so it's hard to pick a favourite. Sleepyhead would probably get the nod but it's technically from 2008 so I went for the next best. 9. YACHT - Psychic city This song made me smile by far the most in 2009. Fact. I recommend the entire album but this is the pick of the bunch. 8. Bat for Lashes - Daniel Twice Mercury-nominated [...]

J.O.T.S. have been pretty quiet lately. At last I have 3 fairly new tunes from the Canadian duo.Enjoy The Count & Sinden - Mega (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) Bag Raiders - Fun Punch (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) Passion Pit - Little Secrets (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) Some more mean beats: The Cannock Wobble - Sound Of Stereo Remix [...]
THE REMIXES - PART 7 - STARSMITH Starsmith , (real name Fin Dow-Smith), recently messaged us an update, which we're pleased to say clarifies his current position. To date we've known him as the producer behind Ellie Goulding 's album, as well as playing alongside her live. With her debut album due for a release in early 2010, we knew Fin's work was virtually complete there, so what was a well connected talent such as Starsmith going to do next? Well, the 21 year old is putting his music degree to [...]

Tomorrow is the first time I'm helping organize music for a party (a friend's 18th birthday), which will probably involve some alcohol, and hopefully (if all goes well), a lot of dancing. I have a couple of different playlists for different styles; pop, indie, my favourite stuff and my "pure" dance music (house, techno etc.). I blended these to form this gigantic mix which, as earlier stated, is an attempt to get those kids dancing. Comments, and more importantly; any recommendations? Thanks. Oh and enjoy the mp3s attached. The Rockafeller Skank Fatboy Slim Put Your Hands Up [...]

To promote Eurostar's Little Break, Big Difference campaign the media agency We Are Social invited myself and nine other UK music bloggers to experience this year's Rock En Seine festival. With 50 international and local acts playing over three days the Parisian event is starting to establish itself as a sunny substitute to the wet [...]
By the time State rocks up at the gates early on Sunday, the Reading Festival has been in full swing for two days. What had we missed? Kings of Leon’s petulant bust up with an underwhelmed main stage crowd, and Arctic Monkey’s Saturday headline slot causing a minor, dusty riot down the front for two. The weekend revelers were looking a little worse for wear, but a fresh and feisty State team is ready for action. Brooklyn’s Bear Hands open the day to several dozen punters on the Festival Republic Stage, but a lack of audience [...]

Tomorrow I'm splitting from dull overcast Dublin for the weekend in favour of the three-day Rock en Seine festival near Paris. The lineup includes Vampire Weekend, Bill Callahan (really looking forward to this), Oasis, Faith No More, Passion Pit, School of Seven Bells, MGMT, Baaba Mal, Klaxons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Vitalic, The Horrors, Dananananakroyd, Metric, Yann Tierson and The Asteroid Galaxy Tour . There's even a free mini-Rock en Seine for kids who haven't got too old to scoff at Oasis yet. Should be good. The trip has been made [...]

ok. Modular are definitely one of my favourite record labels out there. Apart from their idea of a music festival last year, they house some of the best bands out there. People who know me will know that I don't shut up about how good Cut Copy and Van She are. I also LOVE the Avalanches and am waiting on their new release. And their recent signings of Canyons and the Bang Gang boys have got me a bit excited. But, i do digress. Every few years Modular put out a compilation called Leave Them All Behind. I'm [...]

Just started getting back into the remixes as of late after a few months break. I realise that there has been a shit load of good stuff which I know I have missed and probably a lot more which I will never know about. The below two playlists contain some new tracks and some not so new ones which have survived the test of time over the last few months since I last posted ADP (last playlist was actually in Feb). Anyway not in the mood to talk so much shit this post so I will get to the point: [...]

Today marks the beginning of the second half of 2009. We've had a marvelous 6 months full of great music and it's time to update my list of the Absolute Best Songs of 2009 . Well, it's not really fair to call this an update really - I completely tossed out the old list and started up a new one from scratch. I didn't stop at the top 10 either - this list spans the 50 songs that I believe are the best of the year, so far. But like the first list, [...]
stand up and get your extraball Oh boy, it's straight raining magic over at TBE headquarters. I've thrown in a couple sweet covers to balance out the remix madness. Good luck... Phoenix - Lisztomania (Yuksek remix) / This is show time! This is show time! This is show time!! Phoenix and Yuksek together is a total TBE fantasy come true. Yuksek - Extraball ft. Amanda Blank (Burns remix) / It was this remix that [...]
Bloc Party @ London’s Olympia via the fans; madness. Also new Dan Black single remixed by Passion Pit thanks to Karen over @ Radar Maker . Dan Black - Symphonies (Passion Pit Remix)

Seems like I only just did a remix post. Well, I kind of did on Sunday, but this is the proper Weekend edition! A lot of jittery electro nonsense this time around. If I had to recommend anything, it's the Passion Pit mix of Dan Black 's track, "Symphonies." It jumps from trip-hop, to rave, turns down the BPM, and then does it all over again...fun! As usual, take what you want, leave what you don't. DL : Passion Pit - Little Secrets (Internal Friends Complain [...]

Another week is upon us as the summer nears closer and we are all gearing up to see our favorite bands play in the warm weather. Perhaps this week is the week you find your new favorite band? First off, Maximo Park is out with their fourth album since forming in 2005. The release of their 2007 album, Our Earthly Pleasures , had their fan base grow at an alarming rate and Quicken The Heart should be no exception. Does the [...]

Part I can (and should) be found here . This is what the latter part of April and early May had to offer: Passion Pit – The Reeling (Calvin Harris Remix) Bloc Party – Signs (sayCet Remix) Filthy Dukes – Messages (Burns “Terradome” Remix) La Roux – In For The Kill (Skream’s Lets Get Ravey Remix) ( High Contrast Re Edit) Calvin Harris – I’m Not [...]
photo: o0OFF Well Passion Pit 's debut album 'Manners' is due out in just under a month (May 19th if I remember correctly) and after the success off Sleepyhead its got a lot of expectancy surrounding it. After the 'Chunk of Change' EP came The Reeling, which for me is their 2nd best song after Sleepyhead. Anyhow, another song, which will be on Manners, called Little Secrets has leaked and for me its on a par with The Reeling. Its a lot more electronic/less 'dreamy' than the latter, and just [...]

It's scary to think that just a month ago I was on the banks of the Thames watching 2009 roll in with some great fireworks and friends. One of the songs that I loved the most was Passion Pit 's "Sleepyhead" (pictured top). Since then I've been slowly falling in love with their US electro jams. Think Hot Chip, but not as repetitive. Ohhh yes. They're currently recording an album, and Fader had a great piece recently about their new album , and footage of them recording with [...]
