I am kind of at a loss for words, but I must admit Juicy J actually kind of kills it on this remix of an already awesome Passion Pit hit. While we generally associate the former Three 6 Mafia member with high-energy, ratchet tracks like "Bandz A Make Her Dance," he actually has demonstrated an ability to rock laid back beats with out really changing his style of rapping. We love when music worlds collide. Actually, no, the days of rap-metal fusion, that was an example of genres literally colliding. These days, genres don't crash into each other, they intertwine in much more rewarding, subtle ways. Even with genre boundaries crumbling, there are plenty of unlikely combinations that emerge and surprise us. Like Juicy J remixing Passion Pit , for instance. It actually makes perfect sense that Juicy J would remix a Passion Pit track, especially one that is so clearly about substance abuse and failing relationships, two things that J has likely had experience with himself. The reworking is smooth and remarkably sweet for a rapper whose most recent famous line is about his affinity for " ratchet pussy. " The remix leaves Michael Angelakos' sung parts completely intact and adds Juicy's verses in alongside these, dovetailing the two narratives nicely.
