Oh how I would love to be the fattest man at a music festival, so fat that it's hard to tell whether I'm face up or face down when I recline in the grass. As you can tell, today's kind of a slow day so far (although we do have a brand new podcast thanks to our resident postaholic Nathaniel)... We haven't done one of these megaposts in a while, so I figured I'd give it a shot at upload a bunch of my favorite remixes. Plus, after the crap that DreamHost put us through [...]

Filed under: Video , New Music , Exclusive We can all agree that Tegan and Sara 's latest hit, 'Alligator,' is a pretty baller track. But just how baller is it? Well, the Canadian duo just released a digital remix album that features 17 different versions of the song. Is that baller enough for you? The remix artists aren't too shabby either -- they include Passion Pit , Four Tet , Holy F--- , Ra Ra Riot and VHS or Beta , just for [...]

Tegan and Sara - Alligator (Toro Y Moi remix) 17 versions of the same song in one handy package. Tegan and Sara released the Alligator EP on Tuesday which along with Sara's original demo, includes remixes by Passion Pit, Four Tet, Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, and the above from Toro Y Moi, among others. Enough excitement on it's own without their recent announcement of more European dates. If you've already got your ticket we can start the countdown to June together.

Filed under: News , New Music Those Tegan and Sara fans who are champing at the bit for a new album, today's your lucky day -- sort of. The Canadian pop duo have announced plans for a new digital LP, set to hit online retailers on March 30 -- but it's not necessarily "new" material, but instead a collection of remixes of their latest single. 'Alligator.' Passion Pit , Four Tet , TV on the Radio 's Dave Sitek , Ra Ra Riot and [...]
Electronic music has become a much larger part of my musical listening now, and so this post has evolved into a "let's put as much random electronic stuff in here as possible" list. We now have the main dance-y list and a bunch of little snippets of random genres within electronica. And this year I've put the dance mix into a large mp3 file for your pleasure. Do you like that? Should I make one mp3 mixes more often? Should I actually mix it myself or just let my program do it? Any advice on this post would be much [...]

At the beginning of the year I unleashed an article unlike anything I had ever written for this site before. Titled, " The 9's Have It: Historical Reasoning Why 2009 Will Be A Great Year for Music ", I detailed the history of the last year of the decade and its overall affect on the pop culture we would experience well into the next decade. Well 2009 hasn't really disappointed at all, at least when it comes to the music. Sure, we don't know exactly where we'll be 10-years from now but if you look at [...]

This might just be my post of the year. 20 songs from 24 artists (remixes double it up) who appear at Electric Picnic this year clocking in at 63 minutes. This mixtape has some of my favourite music of the year contained within it, mixed to the best of my ability in under six hours and you don't even have to be going to the festival to enjoy it. The second half properly kicks off. It's available as the latest podcast too. Micachu - Lips (Clark Kunt's Heavy Mental remix) [...]

Burial's amazing second album Untrue cast a wave of user-friendly dubstep into the mainstream that otherwise may have always remained in the dark. The loneliest, coldest moments in life wave in and out of burial fragile melodies and dark systematic howls. Alongside his almost anonymous identity, his magestically black and grey tracks circle like a lost person with a paranoid high. Burial and Four Tet have now come together for this 123 Moth/Wolf Cub released tomorrow, 5/4/2009. Four Tet's more basic flowing motion rolls Burial pitched vocal snippets through Moth , a 9 minute mash of hyperdub [...]

Another busy day here at TGTF. Expect things to slow down over the end of this week and next week, as I have to have about half of my university dissertation done by next Friday, and frankly I've done next to nothing on it so far. I'll also be roping in some of you lovely readers later in the year to help out with some of my research - I'm looking at corporate sponsorship in the music industry, something I'm sure you can all relate to and have strong opinions on!! Moving on to the more [...]
