Over at Paste, they've got a delightful live video of Cheyenne Marie Mize's demanding "It Lingers" from the We Don't Need EP ( review ) recorded at the Butchertown Pub. Mize's sparse instrumentation makes this version sound like a hard hit leftover from the 90s: earthy and bass-heavy. Mize's voice arrives as growl buoyed by the phenomenal three-piece.
And thus begins the 2011 listmaking season, in which publications the world over (look for our list in December) announce ... Read the full article at http://www.prefixmag.com/news/ pastes-best-albums-of-2011-lis t-is-just-as-paste-y/59121/

We've hit the jackpot, guys. Yes, there was a time when the internet didn't exist and people actually read music rags that came with mixtapes. Paste use to come with cd's and NME had mixtapes when cassettes ruled the earth. We thank the powers that be that a slew of mixtapes have been made available for download with their accompanying art. There's some true gems to be had and a monumental time suck (in a good way). Please proceed with caution because you won't be able to peruse for only a couple of minutes. Head [...]

Earlier in the month we bought you the news that Cloud Nothings are set to release a brand new record early next year. Attack On Memory is produced by Steve Albini and the first taster from the LP, No Future No Past, is already sounding like one of the strongest tracks of the year. Now the band have released a free mixtape full of the songs that inspired the rec0rd. Here's what Baldi from the band had to say about it; "While I [...]

new PASTE magazine is out and she got he-rapper-slash-actor the CHILDISH GAMBINO (from that COMMUNITY TV series) on her cover. wotyougot

Arriving only a year after the bands self-titled debut LP, Cloud Nothings have announced that their second full-length album will see the light of day on 6th February 2012. Attack On Memory is produced by the legendary Steve Albini ( Nirvana, Pixies, Mogwai ), and includes a heavy nine-minute track and also promises to be a " huge step forward for the band: more experimental, more varied, but still accessible, taking in post-rock, indie, post-punk and some sheer, unadulterated noise." The band have unleashed album-opener No Future No Past [...]

A couple months ago, we helped let the cat outta the bag in regards to Sebadoh coming to Cincinnati. Let's just say the response from Sebadoh fans was pretty big. You guys were really excited to hear the news of the legendary band coming to town so I have a feeling this news will be equally, or maybe more exciting. We have tickets to Thursday nights show at Southgate House up for grabs! This one will be a Twitter re-tweet contest, so jump over there and retweet the message pasted [...]
Bombadil's Bolivian folk-rooted music will bewitch your soul and open your eyes to a refreshingly new sound.

When her previous band Gowns literally self-imploded things could go one of two ways for Erika M. Anderson - aka EMA . Firstly, she could jack it all in, move back home with her parents and get a safe 9-5 job and live out her life with a cool story to tell about her previous exploits. Alternatively she could take her music in a new direction and, free from the stress and strains that plagued her previous band, she could continue along her musical journey. Rather surprisingly she chose the first option. However, just [...]
the first release from fisheye, the label from paul wild, who ran the distro of the same name. for a while there fisheye was the best source of decent underground tapes, records and zines in the uk. and the label released some quality stuff too. unsurprising then that this cassette represents a pretty decent snapshot of that scene, with sounds both noisy and tuneful from the uk, us and down under. it features: children at play, paste, tea culture, prick decay, brown tower, omit, the shadow ring, hood, scaredy cat, calvin party, goosewind, wizard [...]

In which I for some reason lead with more talk of chicken fillets . For Creative Loafing Atlanta : Secret Cities - Strange Hearts Sometimes a mallet can do more than beat chicken fillets into submission. Occasionally, it's the essential ingredient in an already-virtuosic experimental psych-pop band's rhythmic impact. Fargo, N.D.'s Secret Cities uses mallets to complement the dual lead-vocal duties deftly executed by Charlie [...]

Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr 's debut studio album It's A Corporate World is now up for streaming. The eleven song effort from the Detroit pop duo is set to drop June 7th via Quite
The screen is filled with primary colors and geometric shapes, which is as mellow and lighthearted as the song's name suggests.
Paste Magazine has posted a video of The Rural Alberta Advantage playing their song Stamp at SXSW 2011. It is well documented that I am a huge fan and every time I see video of them live I am shocked at the thought that drummer Paul Banwatt could keep up the energy level for a full show. Here is a gallery of screen captures from the video showing Wildman Banwatt in action. GRAND Flash Album Gallery Skins for GRAND FlAGallery, Photo Galleries, Video [...]

Good news for James Corden, a father for a first time . How does Gordon celebrate this happy event? With a photoshop horror: Take a moment to enjoy just how shoddy that work is, by the way - the jagged shoulder, whatever the hell is going on round the neck. This is Britain's biggest selling newspaper, by the way, not a sixth form project. The photo is captioned "Top of the tot ... tracksuit like one Smithy wears" which, erm, explains everything. Are [...]

Tahiti 80 are a band from France and they're quite a big deal, those in the know recognise that they deserve just as much lime light as other French imports - including Phoenix and of course the yard-stick for soft french music Air. We'd called their sound as; happy-go-lucky beach-rcok - it's so carefree your troubles just melt away on a warm French breeze. They're also about to release their sixth full-length album - The Past, The Present, & The Possible - on February 11th. The full-length comes brimming with lovely warm infectious beats, breezy vocals, and clever pop arrangements that mix live [...]
