Apparently PBS has gotten cooler since my middle-school science teachers used to force us into digesting 3 episodes of Bill Nye The Science Guy everyday. They've just put together this brief, but informative video of the current state of the online music industry, and what lies around the corner. It's wild to think how different the music scene is these days, strictly because of online curators, and curators of curators (a la Hype Machine). Exciting times indeed. [via PBS] Tweet
Questo post si dovrebbe scrivere da sé. In automatico. Mettetevi [...]
Phil Ochs: There But for Fortune offers an authentic look at a great American folksinger and his turbulent time.

If you ever ask Dodge what his favorite live show experience has been, he would probably mention being in the audience for Arcade Fire's first taping for PBS' Austin City Limits TV show, several years ago. This past weekend, another performance of Arcade Fire appearing on Austin City Limits was broadcast. The entire set is streaming at the PBS website . You can watch it below.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo flattered! (@ 1:28)
If you've been paying any kind of attention to music in the past twenty years, you know what the business of making, spreading, and listening to music has changed in almost every way. New technology, new distribution platforms and a growing digital world have shaken up the system entirely and only show signs of further change. Off Book: The Evolution of Music Online , a short film from PBS, will talk you through "these massive changes, and reveal how music blogs and websites have arisen as the new arbiters of quality." With commentary from such fine internet music trendsetters [...]
One of the coolest things about writing a book on a guy like Neil Young is the unexpected gifts you get from even more unexpected places. One such unexpected surprise arrived in my mailbox earlier this week. It was a long-since forgotten video of Neil during his country period with the International Harvesters on the PBS concert showcase Austin City [...]

Yes, go ahead. Rub your eyes in disbelief. We haven't been sitting on our thumbs over here at PB&J. We have asked a few artists or their managers nicely to a funk compilation. Above, you will see the names of 19 committed artists who will each contribute one free, unreleased original or remixed track; [...]
If you asked me to name my favorite concert of 2011, you wouldn't have to wait long for a " Paul Simon at Webster Hall " response. Simon's current touring band ranks among his best yet, which is saying a lot considering the highly-lauded players he's gigged with in the past. Beyond David Byrne's guest spot, which simply put was awesome, there was one highlight after another as the Queens native showed off his deep and eclectic catalog in front of an audience that ate up every minute of it. Paul doesn't just attempt to simulate the album version of [...]
David Bianculli explains why the new four-part documentary series called America in Primetime , which premiered Sunday on PBS, is “ the smartest TV show about television I’ve seen in about 20 years. ” America in Primetime is structured around the most compelling shows on television today, unfolding over four hours and weaving between past and present. Each episode focuses on one character archetype that has remained a staple of primetime through the generations - the Independent Woman, the Man of the House, the Misfit, and the Crusader - capturing both the continuity of the [...]

I had the lovely opportunity to sit down with the talented Australian DJ Anna Lunoe last week and ask her some questions about her work and success thus far in her career. If you haven't gotten to know her yet, right now is a great time to start. I started writing with PB&J roughly 3 [...]
