We already shared one track from the The New York Renaissance mixtape today, but after spending a bit of time with the tape, we've also got to draw attention to the tape's second track. "Compliments 2 The Chef" sees a laid-back Action Bronson surfing another Harry Fraud beat, happily interlacing food, drug and vaguely spiritual imagery like only a New York chef turned rapper can. Man Edinburgh's being a little tease at the moment. It's cold, but the sun is out, and from the safe confines of my office it's all too easy to look out the window and think that Spring really is in the air. I have to say, I am not that convinced by the band name - lucky the music's good. There are two songs on their Soundcloud page and for all that doesn't tell you much about a band, I certainly think these two tunes show great promise. First tune Sleep With Me Baby is a louche, easy tune which recalls Mac DeMarco a wee bit. It's electronic pop, but lazily slow, and delivered with something of an arched eyebrow. PETER For me the appeal of Beach House stems from how their songs start with the most basic of approaches, like a drum tick or the slight hum of an organ.
