" Right off the heals of his newest video , hip-hop artist Rich Quick is releasing a remix for "Travelin' Man," featuring Reef the Lost Cauze and Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples. "Travelin' Man" is produced entirely by Streece, a formidable production duo comprised of Stress and Chuck Treece, who have worked with mainstream artists from Gym Class Heroes and Ghostface Killah to LIL WAYNE and local notable Bahamdia, [...]
Frances Quinlan sounds like she's always almost about collapse. It doesn't matter what she's yelling, whether it's the obsessive-destructive "nobody deserves you the way that I do" , or bottomlessly sad like "there are some parents whose child ren long for divorce", or getting hopeful with "you are my favourite because you're a long shot" . It doesn't matter whether she's chucking out playground taunts like "my mom says your mom's a lesbian " over a pure pop piano stomp, [...]
I met Marcus on Dwele's current tour. He's supported Dwele at the Jazz Cafe last friday and is currently on tour around Europe, I'm not going to tell what you should or shouldn't do but I have included one of his tracks below via youtube making it incredibly easy for you to play, his smooth harmonies are also incredibly easy on the ears, but you'll find that our for yourself. I've been so fortunate to be able to chill with some incredibly dope people over the last few evenings. I'm a great believer in getting to know [...]
Right in the heart of Fishtown sits the gem of Philly’s live music scene, Johnny Brenda's. One of the best small venues for over ten years, the place feels like a shrunken down gothic opera theater with a balcony overlooking a turn of the century burlesque club. I often leave feeling like the bands I’ve seen have played a personal show for me. I know the next time around they will be playing a much larger venue but feel ecstatic I got to see a rising band playing music they love, for the love of live music. Ivan & Alyosha and Twin [...]
This past Saturday, I headed to my old home state of NJ to catch a bunch of damn good street punk bands that do not play anywhere near often enough. The show was at Joe's Mill Hill Saloon, which was this small little dive with a stage in it's intimate basement, making it feel like any other house show (but with better bathrooms). Everything about the show reeked of Philly: almost all the bands (minus Blanks 77) and the crowd came out from Philly to party. I unfortunately missed most of the openers due to traffic, but I [...]

Fuck yes. Just when you thought it was going to be necessary to travel to Chi-town to catch Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age at Lollapalooza this summer, Made In America come out of nowhere with a sick lineup of diverse proportions. Sure. Jay-Z isn't listed as performing, but I'll guarantee he makes an appearance during the Beyonce headlining performance. Plenty of dance parties with Calvin Harris , deadmau5 , Wolfgang , and Nero . The hip hop scene will be all you could [...]
I honestly can't believe it's been nearly four years since Paint It Black has put out any new music, and anyone who has been reading this little ole' blog for a while knows how bad I've been jonesing for some new tunes from Philly's finest (although in their defense... Dan's been busy being a new father and playing with old bands while the other members have been touring with their own respective bands). So how exactly does the brand spanking new Invisible EP fare? Well, let me just say I've been listening to it an average [...]
It's the fucking Paint It Black record release show! I've been stoked on this show ever since they announced it, and the fact that Philly local hardcore dudes Bad Side and female fronted hardcore band Congenital Death were on the bill were a huuuuge plus. I headed to the sold out First Unitarian Church, and while hurting a bit (sprained my ankle, didn't help my cause at World Inferno ) I planned on completely losing my shit regardless. Bad Side: It didn't take long for me to completely lose my shit, [...]
Radio 104.5 announced their annual Summer Block Party series that takes place down at The Piazza in Norther Liberties each year. These free shows usually bring out a whole gang of people who have no idea who the bands playing are but want to enjoy some new music and outdoor drinking. More so the outdoor drinking. I'll definitely want to be in attendance for the July 13th show that includes Cold War Kids and Bad Books . I'm surprised they wouldn't space those two bands out considering they are the only real [...]
Back on January 20th, Diplo set out on a 4-show tour that took place all in one night, proving he's the hardest working white dude in the music biz. Him & his team filmed the night where he hit Baltimore, Philly, Atlantic City, and NYC. I heard the show at Sound Garden Hall was wild. I bet attendees weren't too happy in AC though, where he kept his set to only 20 minutes but got to peep some asses that were "made in laboratories". I wanna see some of the lost footage from between each show. Check out [...]
Who wants to get all fucked up on drugs and check out Dan Deacon get super insane at the Kimmel Center next Friday? The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts , or PIFA, returns once again for a Spring celebration of the City's art scene. Deacon makes music that only the craziest of individuals can listen to on a normal day, but pop a couple Molly jawns, and I think I could get into this combustion of noise. Who's in? Look at those kids going ape-shit. Tickets on sale now.
DRGN King Resemble The "Holy Ghost"
Philly based DRGN King took to the streets of their hometown to shoot the video for "Holy Ghost", which resulted in various locals adding a lot of flair and flavor to the clip! The boys could serve as tour guides in their off time, because, just look at all the fun everyone is having. Seriously, the Philadelphia tourism board should have this on their radar. But back to "Holy Ghost". The song is off of the debut album Paragraph Nights which rules as much as this video does. Take [...]
