Hyro Da Hero is heavy enough for us to feature him on Thrash Hits, right? That's a rhetorical question, by the way. It wasn't a request for people to go debate it in the comments or anything. Anyway, he's got the more-than-excellent Marmozets playing in support of him on his UK tour, and given that we've expressed our love of that band on more than one occasion , we figured this was more than enough reason to make sure Gary Wolstenholme was on hand to photograph the whole shebang [...]

On April 4, 1968, LIFE photographer Henry Groskinsky and writer Mike Silva, on assignment in Alabama, learned that Martin Luther King, Jr., had been shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. The two men jumped into their car, raced the 200 miles to the scene of the crime, and there — to their astonishment — found that they had unfettered access to the hotel's grounds; to the abandoned buildings from which the rifle shot likely came; to Dr. King's room; and to the bleak, blood-stained balcony where the civil rights leader had fallen, mortally wounded by an assassin's [...]

Albert Einstein , whose theories exploded and reshaped our ideas of how the universe works, died on April 18, 1955, of heart failure. He was 76. His funeral and cremation were intensely private affairs, and only one photographer managed to capture the events of that extraordinary day: LIFE magazine's Ralph Morse. Armed with his camera and a case of scotch — to open doors and loosen tongues — Morse compiled a quietly intense record of a 20th-century icon's passing. But aside from one now-famous image — of Einstein's office, exactly how he left it, taken hours after [...]

FOOD is a short film directed by aritst/photographer Robert Frank about Gordon Matta-Clark and Carol Goodden's conceptual restaurant. Founded in 1972 in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City, FOOD brought together many factors of the local community, artists and otherwise, becoming a space for dialogue and conversation as well as a living piece in it of itself. (watch the film after the jump) The player will show in this paragraph Matta-Clark would commission artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and John Cage to create meals, many of which were unedible. [...]

We've said it before, and we'll say it again - as far as touring line-ups go, the combination of Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Red Fang has set the bar for 2012. Given that Mastodon put out the Thrash Hits Album of 2011 , The Dillinger Escape Plan put out the Thrash Hits album of 2010 , and Red Fang are one of our favourite up'n'coming crushers, it's gonna take one heck of a tour to top this. When the tour arrived in Manchester, our man [...]

Pop Singles live in PBS Studios PBS 106.7FM is running 'Drive Live' this week in Melbourne and I rocked along to catch Pop Singles, Extreme Wheeze and Lost Animal. The week is presented by APRA and Arts Victoria and features a tightly curated selection of bands each day between 5-7pm. The best part is you can rock up for free and check it out. PBS members also get free beer! Seriously. Don't miss the critically acclaimed 'Twerps' on Friday, who ended up on almost everyone's best of 2011 album list. Check out details on [...]
