All Photos by Letterbox Editor's note: The ladies of Letterbox, Ellie Arciaga and Eleanor Lonardo, are on the road with Pickwick this spring chronicling the band's first national tour and giving fans an intimate glimpse behind the scenes of a travelling band. This summer they'll be publishing a book of photos from their adventure, but [...]
Hey did Tumblr kill the photo metadata aspects of photo posts or am I just losing my mind?
For the final day of Bumbershoot we managed to miss the crush of M83 fans and almost all Skrillex haircuts in exchange for crowd-surfing with Ty Segall, being serenaded by Lee Fields and hearing Hey Marseilles new songs in the shadow of the Space Needle. This is what it looked like.
We'll have lots of words and thoughts on this weekend's Bumbershoot Festival in the coming days, but first we just wanted to give you a peek at what our weekend looked like through a lens. Here's how we spent our sunny Saturday.
Now known to the general public, Doe Bay Fest no longer has the simple small town feel of the past, of Ballard's loosely associated denizens transplanting themselves to an island resort for a short time. Now that the secret is out, many of the usual characters were edged out via the less-than-minute window in which [...]

Baby Eagle ::: photo by Brittney Bush Bollay Being of a fairly rigorous scientific mindset, I don't generally hold much truck with the concept of fate, but Friday evening's concert experience had the F-word smeared all over it. A last-minute awareness of an unpublicized addition to a bill, the absence of traffic and green lights [...]

For the next couple weeks I'll be tagging along on tour with Drew Grow and the Pastors' Wives as they open for The Head and The Heart's national tour. I won't be writing from the road, but I'll be sending postcards. The first few are on their way to Seattle now. p.s. If you're an out-of-state [...]
The Golden Blondes ::: photo by Abbey Simmons Despite my mother's worries about me hanging out at bars most nights a week for concerts, the truth is what I do at night is not very rock'n'roll and there's nothing for her to worry about. While I enjoy concerts very much, I treat them like work. I [...]
Monogamy Party ::: photo by Josh Lovseth While other venues may be cancelling shows, Monogamy Party and Black Lodge are partying tonight no matter the weather. And we assure you, whatever weather you have to brave to get there, this is a spectacle you don't want to miss. Monogamy Party gets nasty, and not in any [...]
Raditation City! ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth New Years is the time when everyone dusts off their sparkle, get's all dolled up, and in place of working imbibes for those same hours. It's the one day of the year everyone has got off with the explicit purpose of partying. With that in mind any band worth [...]
Doe Bay Fest 2011 ::: photo by Josh Lovseth Hope your New Years Eve is as fun as a slip'n'slide and your kiss as idyllic as the one above appears. A Helping Hand ::: photo by Josh Lovseth
The Moondoggies in Denver ::: photo by Abbey Simmons The Moondoggies are obviously equipped for December year-round, so it's ironic that December is the time we really get to see them strip off the checkered long sleeves and in their place rep their collection holiday sweaters. Have you got a problem with Christmas themed ties or [...]
Wheedle's Groove return to the CD ::: photo by Abbey Simmons With little fan fare, no press releases, no marching band, no mayor's decree, Wheedle's Groove returned to play the Central District for a mid-afternoon show in a park on the dead-end of a street a couple blocks away from my home. When I saw the [...]
Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside ::: photo by Josh Lovseth We hope you can join us this Sunday for a special screening and fundraiser for The Doe Bay Sessions. Hopefully by then, words have stopped failing me to describe the adventure we've had making the series and how with the help of strangers who've become [...]
Bryan John Appleby at the Rendezvous ::: photo by Abbey Simmons By the time City Arts Fest rolled around this October, Bryan John Appleby had greatly outgrown the venue of his booking, The Rendezvous. When I arrived in hopes of seeing Appleby and his band, I opened the door to the tiny theater only to be [...]
Fort Union ::: photo by Abbey Simmons As this photo reminds, there's few finer things in the world than singing with friends. Fort Union plays The Comet next Friday December 9th with Smokey Brights.
Sleigh Bells ::: photo by Josh Lovseth It is hard to believe, but its that time of year again: time for best of lists. Yes, the equally beloved and maligned end of the year ritual has began again all over the internet and today we join in, with our first favorite photo of 2011. Each day [...]
Wild Flag ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth It's a special thing to see anyone fully in their element. To see someone owning a moment in its totality, and in doing so, present the clearest expression of their own aspirations. Though Wild Flag held onto playing a Ramones cover until the encore at Neumos, the frenetic spirit [...]
