Driving to the Sasquatch! Festival on Thursday I opted to skip out on I-90 from Seattle and instead drive way up north and take Route 2. It still gets you where you're going, but the traffic-congested two-and-a-half hour trip you get with 90 becomes an isolated six-hour journey if you choose Rt. 2. It's completely worth it considering what you get instead: over 100 miles of absolutely stunning forests. This past Thursday night saw the debut of The M&Ms, a new supergroup featuring guitarist Papa Mali (7 Walkers), bassist Rob Mercurio (Galactic), drummer Stanton Moore (Galactic) and keyboardist John Medeski (MMW) at (le) poisson rouge in New York City. The concert was put together by Equifunk organizers, who will bring The M&Ms to Equifunk 2013 this August. Last night, Portland's Keller Auditorium played host to Vampire Weekend. The band ran through hits from their first two albums and played a significant chunk of their excellent new record Modern Vampires Of The City . We sent Colin McLaughlin to check it out.

Queens of the Stone Age shook the sold out Wiltern Theatre with a performance that was worthy of arenas. Unveiling a slew of tracks from their new album ...Like Clockwork , Queens deftly interjected older songs in with the newer material as you may have witnessed during the live broadcast for NPR. In the wake of last week's arrest for murder of Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, a.k.a. Kai the "home-free" drifter who saved a random gas worker's life , McGillvary's parents decided to come forward and speak to the New Jersey Star-Ledger about their son and his recent troubles.
