On Monday night J-Fur and I went to the Grand Opening of the new Chipotle burrito joint in Citrus Park. While I do like Chipotle, now that they are no longer affiliated with McDonald's, my reason for going wasn't their burritos. The Grand Opening was a benefit for Sweetwater Organic Community Farm . Five dollars got you a drink and burrito with 100 percent of all the proceeds going to the organic farm. Sweetwater not only provides healthy, organic food for people but it also puts a great deal of effort into educational programs and community building [...]

Minutemen L-R: D. Boon, Mike Watt, George Hurley Last night I was housesitting for my homeboy, Ducktaper, so I brought along Double Nickels On The Dime (1984). I've written about this Minutemen classic before [ click here ], mainly because it's one of the greatest rock albums ever made. Not punk rock. Rock. In fact, if you gave me only three records to bring on that proverbial desert island ... you know, the one with functioning electricity and some sort [...]
To keep the promotional juices flowing, Okayplayer drops a lovely feature of Little Dragon performing at the Roots Picnic this past month, as well as some insightful interview footage to go along with it. While Yukimi has been killing it on the feature tip as of late, slaying tracks for both Gorillaz and SBTRKT (just to name two), it is now time for the Little Dragon crew to gear up for their next full-length. That full-length is called Ritual Union , and it is set to drop July 25. Hit the skip to check out [...]

Five years ago, the Philly Punx Picnic was merely an acoustic show and BBQ, but is now a full blown six-day festival. This year's events feature over 40 bands (both touring and local), BBQs, block parties, homebrews, vegan food, and a daylong show under I-95 at FDR Skate Park. It's going to be a great time so be sure to come out and support this truly special DIY festival. We just wanted to share with you our picks of the local acts that you might want to catch. (You can read more HERE .)
Earlier this month at the Roots Picnic , our friends from Philadelphia Music Magazine filmed some of the performances and interviews we did throughout the day. Below, watch the videos of Edward Sharpe's performance and interview with WXPN's Mike Vasilikos and The Dismemberment Plan's performance and Bruce Warren's interview with bassist Eric Axelson. Special thanks to Philadelphia Music Magazine . Check out their web site here and follow them on twitter @phillymusicmag

Toronto - Part 1 of Stacey's highlights from NXNE. Best 'NXNE Special Guest' show Yukon Blonde at the Rivoli. My first experience with this band was for an afternoon set at Hillside last year – and honestly, I just couldn't get into their sound that was a bit heavy for the afternoon, and was interfering with my happy, hippie Hillside vibe. However, at one in the morning, on the first night of NXNE , they blew my socks off. With a sound that is evocative of a heavy 70's classic folk rock, [...]

OK, so we're a little slow with posting our pics from The Roots Picnic. But honestly, we had so many ridiculously amazing shots to go through. Mad props to our buddy David Turcotte for lugging his heavy-ass camera bag around all day and getting some SICK pics so please take the time to check them out HERE ! Enjoy! - The Deli Staff

The folks at Philadelphia Music Magazine captured some of the activity at the Roots Pre-Picnic event on South Street. Hosted by Dice Raw, they filmed Brass Heaven with Black Thought . Check out the video below. Go here to check out our coverage of The Roots picnic.
The 4th Annual Roots Picnic went down in Philadelphia on Saturday. Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding performed, as well as Little Dragon, Ariel Pink, Dismemberment Plan, Man Man, and Beanie Sigel. Due to scheduling problems, Man Man ended up playing while the Roots and Nas were on, so, sadly, no photos of their hometown set. But check out photos of the other acts and headliner the Roots with Nas in the gallery above.

Perfect weather in Philadelphia yesterday for the 4th annual Roots Picnic . Diverse lineup of classic hip-hop artists and new blood. Nas jawn. Wiz jawn. Yelawolf
