Between the clips of Quik rapping alongside Loyal Divide and Danny Brown littering Joker's bass with foul-mouthed ease, you've already seen we've posted a few slices of Pitchfork's Selector series. [...]
This past year gave way to Pitchfork's fun new hip-hop series, Selector . Hosting a number of fantastic MCs and producers, including Joker, Danny Brown, Lil B, Clipe, Big Boi and much more, we got an exclusive look at their creative process and how they attack the microphone. Pitchfork takes things one step further today by introducing a mixtape of the numerous performances-a nice touch to conclude a year's worth of fabulous material. Click here to download the mixtape .

Pitchfork.tv has a fairly long-running (since 2010) series called "Selector" where they give a rapper the choice of two beats to freestyle over, and let them do their thang. Not only have they had a high caliber collection of rappers (Clipse, Curren$y, Danny Brown and many more) but they tend to spit over an interesting choice of beats from other genres, ranging from Joker to Nicolas Jaar. Grab the mixtape HERE on the Pitchfork website, and check the track-listing and hear my personal favorite below. Danny Brown x Joker - "Gob Stopper" [...]

Admittedly, we missed Saint Etienne in their prime (not our fault) - but have reaped the benefits of their amazing catalog due to the recent re-issues and crate digging through various "used" piles. Luckily, we have a taste of new music from them for the fist time in 7 years. Via P4K : St. Etienne's Bob Stanley (who has contributed to Pitchfork) says the track is "about the anticipation of going to see your favourite artist. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about [...]

As I said back in September on the WLFY Soundcast ( Episode #10 ),the biggest problem with Lana Del Rey has nothing to do with the singerherself. The debate has beenfurious and SNL only poured more gasoline on the fire, but while others talkabout authenticity, plastic surgery, and talent (all valid conversations) thereal problem in my mind is clear and simple...yet, it's never part of thediscussion. Lana Del Rey has received more coverage from independentmusic websites than any other [...]

Your entire facade is a line that you feed," which is the exact sentiment [...]
