I was hesitant at first to post this, but I keep finding myself returning to play it again. In an extremely simplistic video shot by Rex Arrow , we get what will presumably launch Dylan Reynolds young career. As a close friend of Mac Miller , Reynolds has people in his corner pushing for success, but this kid's got talent. Being that his favorite singer is Jeff Buckley, I'm not sure if he would appreciate the Frank Ocean comparison or not, [...]

My man Brennan Peirson is back again. This time, he gives us a breezy folk jam that is almost guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Or it won't. Maybe you're just a melancholic fuck. Oh, I also included the video for the session for you to check out as well. Look out Mumford & Sons . Follow me @OceanPdestrians .
Here's another installment from the Probably Watching Sunshine acoustic sessions. Again, this one features Brennan Pierson performing his original track 'Sentence' with a fiery middle-aged strawberry blonde woman and some fellow instrumentally inclined peoples. Follow me @OceanPdestrians .

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band, a show preview, or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we'll just round 'em all up for you. Most of these videos are of artists we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about the bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a trillion. Do it! [...]

Gospel Music's sound has absolutely nothing to do with gospel music. Black Kids bassist Owen Holmes is the man behind Gospel Music and the band has released a debut LP on Kill Rock Stars, How To Get To Heaven From Jacksonville, FL, with tunes that bring to mind Magnetic Fields and Moldy Peaches. Jaunty acoustic pop twee songs about love, heartbreak and social awkwardness with a bit of a tongue and cheek humor. Gospel Music @ Kill Rock Stars [...]

Words by Jacob Barron And now, a list of things heard on "Intro," the first song on M83 's most recent, gorgeously overblown album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming , in chronological order: low foundational groaning, dancing 80s synths, spoken-through-a-desk-fan spoken word, quotes that sound like they were taken from the voiceover in a Terence Malick movie ( The Tree of Life especially), shouted vocals from an historically timid vocalist, harmonies that sound welded together, soaring electronic whines, digital drum rolls, Zola motherfucking Jesus ' viscerally androgynous voice, glockenspiel, [...]

5 Songs is a weekly series where we point out the strange, the grand, and the unique connections between our favorite songs. Let’s get weird. Words by Chris This is a contemporary phenomenon. With bands looking for alternate means to earn $$$ in the post-label era, and various companies becoming interested in advertising to the increasing demographic of 18-33 year old hipsters, there comes a time when you are drinking (preferably with a loved one) and [...]

Local Pittsburgh band Black Crash play a CD Release show on Friday 11/11/11 at Club Cafe with a 10:30pm start time and Corbu from Brooklyn opening ( http://www.corbucorbu.com ). The new self released Black Crash album is titled Sometimes Dreams. From the Pittsburgh City Paper: Shimmery guitars color this new release from experienced local rockers. There's a Brit-pop vibe for sure; Radiohead would be an easy comparison in a way, but a more straightforward band like Travis might be a better fit. Throw in a little Achtung Baby/Zooropa-era U2 for good measure. [...]

Sondre Lerche & Peter Wolf Crier/ Club Cafe / 11.23.2011 / 7:00 PM / $20 Words by Jim We had a mad rush of ticket giveaways over the past three months. Fall is prime time concert season, but all good things come to an end and we only have a few more contests in the next couple o' months. Today's giveaway of course isn't the last show we will promote, but you can bet things are going to die down as winter sets in and the holidays consume [...]

Pittsburgh legends The Cynics are touring in support of their phenomenal new release The Spinning Wheel Motel on Get Hip Records. The band play the 31st Street Pub on Saturday night withe The Sights and Pow Wos. Guitarist Gregg Kostelich has kept The Cynics relevant for decades despite lineup changes and the responsibility that comes with running Get Hip Records - an amazing independent garage/punk label based out of Pittsburgh that has released most of The Cynics discs in addition to singles by everyone from The Hellacopters to Nashville Pussy to new bands and garage/punk/60's reissues from around [...]

The Features with Legs Like Tree Trunks/ Brillobox / 11.12.2011 / 9:30 PM / $8 Words by Jim How the hell is it November 1st already? Thanksgiving is all of one second away, then Christmas, then 4th of July. Cripes. Despite that random snow shower a few days ago, we are still in the thick of autumn. I've always equated fall and early winter with some of my most favorite concert going experience and from the recent rash of ticket giveaways, it's clear that we are well into [...]

Words by Jim Big Hurry's latest release begins with the clapping of hands and an eery summarization of their career as a band: "Hey, we started right on the very bottom / We worked our way right out / I got right back down on my bended knee". Fitting words for a group that's progressed incredibly since their inception in 2008 and is about to face a new chapter in their career. Well done Big Hurry , well done. Point taken. [...]
Whiskey Holler is a four-piece roots-rock band based out of Pittsburgh. They describe their sound as “folkabilly.” The Whiskey Holler - "Someone Told Me" from Bryan Heller on Vimeo . Caitlin Magarity is also from Pittsburgh, PA. Music struck interest at a very early age when her parents purchased a piano for the household. From elementary school until high school, she played violin in the orchestra in the North Penn School District (Lansdale, PA). Shortly after, she picked up guitar, learned the basics, and continues to [...]

Hey. How's it going? Good, great. So, yeah, you might be new here. Maybe you're a freshman at Pitt or CMU or somewhere else. That's terrific and we applaud your good choice in city. But maybe you're not exactly new here, and you're finding yourself ready to explore the town and uncover it's wonders. You're like a goddamn pearl diver, ready to take the plunge and come up for air with a little bit of treasure. Well, we're here to help you with that whole situation. It could definitely seem like a staggering endeavor. We understand. We went through it [...]

Pittsburgh Music Store to Give Away 33,000 Records Like any vinyl nerd, this headline makes my palms sweaty. But I’ve learned my lesson. Let me tell you a little story: I was living in a tent in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massechusetts one summer in early 2000s. It was an ultra chill summer, but I digress. One day that summer I happened into a Cambridge record store that was about to go out of business. It was dusty, full of cats. But it seemed to have a dece collection of random stuff. After [...]

Words and photos by Vicki Earlier this year, when I was debating whether or not to attend Bonnaroo (this is the last time I’m going to talk about Bonnaroo—I think) I ultimately decided to go because of the value. I see a ton of shows every year and spend lots of money on tickets, so paying $230 for my four-day pass to constant concerts at Bonnaroo was a steal. Plus, I figured that when these artists came through town on their respective tours, there’d be no pressure to buy a ticket to [...]
