Poison The Well - The Opposite Of December / Tear From The Red (Deluxe Re-Issue) (album stream)

Poison The Well - The Opposite Of December / Tear From The Red (Deluxe Re-Issue) (album stream) Poison the Well is an experimental hardcore band from Miami/Ft. Polpettoni buoni (o quasi)

The Amity Affliction - "Chasing Ghosts" (Official Video)

LET’S ARGUE ABOUT THE TOP 50 METAL SONGS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

The Faceless: Not on the list! If there's one thing you know we love doing here at MetalSucks, it's smoking pot. But if there are two things you know we love doing here at MetalSucks, it's smoking pot and masturbating. But three things, if there are THREE things you know we love doing here at [...]

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: METAL OF METAL

Metallica - Battery
Banner by Cysquatch Ohai there MetalSucks reader! How's your wang? Keeping it wet 'n wild? Awesome! So hey remember on Tuesday when MetalSucks Editor-In-Chief Axl Rosenberg bent our boners/boneholes with coverage of a pop-punk band's wack video called "Headbanger"? Gag barf fffart, right? Well, let's spit and flush - and freshen our unders - via [...]

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: NOT METAL

Aphex twin - Curtains
Banner by Cysquatch To non-metal people, it must be distressing and daunting to parse the many genres, subgenres, flavors, evolutions, and contexts that define metal music. Like, what one band does in its very special way may go undetected by those without exposure to the artists who precede and succeed that band. But huh that's [...]

Poison The Well To Make Announcement Tomorrow

Poison The Well To Make Announcement Tomorrow Poison The Well will be making an announcement tomorrow. Check out the tweet from the band below. "Change of plans. We've decided to change our news announcement date to Friday, May 4th. Sorry guys."

Sleigh Bells – Comeback Kid [Mp3]

Sleigh Bells – Comeback Kid [Mp3] Preparing still for their sophomore effort, Reign of Terror , Brooklyn chaos bringers Sleigh Bells drops another track that seems to tie into the album's theme quite well. "Comeback Kid" shows a strong progression in instrumentation, Derek Miller struts his penchant for all things heavy metal with an in-your-face guitar refrain and As I Lay Dying -esque kick-drum breakdown. Listen to the track below:

Sounds of Sasquach v.IV: Sleigh Bells

Sounds of Sasquach v.IV: Sleigh Bells Sleigh Bells began with a conversation in a Brazilian restaurant between the guitarist of Poison the Well and the mother of the very talented Alexis Krauss.  In what remains one of my favorite “this is how the band got together” stories, Derek Miller (previously of poison the well) was waiting tables at Miss Favela when he mentioned he was looking for a female vocalist and heard the mother of Alexis Krauss immediately volunteer her daughter.  Sleigh Bell’s sound might be  described by comparing them to another male/female duo “the bird in the bee”.  If you’re familiar, imagine the bird and [...]

THINGS THAT MAKE U GO MOSH: SOME UBER-KVLT 90s METALCORE BANDS 4 U

Creation is Crucifixion - Gutter Tech (Mutation Engine)
"BIG PANTS WASTE PRECIOUS FABRIC" Step into my Nocturnus time machine and take a magical journey with me into a time long, long ago, an excursion into a world that scarcely resembles our own. In this world - we'll call it Moshtopia - hardcore kids are known for wearing giant, baggy pants, not skinny jeans; [...]

Yummy, Crunchy Thrashpop: Sleigh Bells, Treats.

Yummy, Crunchy Thrashpop: Sleigh Bells, Treats. Ever wondered what a drum machine-infused, bassless take on Poison The Well may sound like, were it fronted by a largely anonymous member of a truly dismal girlgroup? No? Not even after the following ABC News sycophantic dirge? Well, thankfully Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller, aka Sleigh Bells surpass all expectations, reservations and discriminations to erect a towering long player that's equal parts visceral and disco. The duo, signed to M.I.A.'s N.E.E.T. Recordings (punctuation nightmare) were sampled by their label mogul on her latest outing, (prepare punctuation downfall) /\/\/\Y/\, Meds And Feds pivoting on [...]

Sunday Spotify Slaylist: Poison The Well

Poison The Well - Exist Underground
Since Poison The Well announced they were going on hiatus earlier this week, we've been hitting their back catalogue pretty hard in a feckless display of audio-mourning. We figured you might as well join us, so we've knocked up a Poison The Well-themed Slaylist so you can share our despair. We didn't limit ourselves to [...]

IN WHICH WE HAD A BEAR PARTY

Just so you know, when Vince and I cuddle, he's usually the big spoon. Here's what happened in MetalSucks Land this week: Misery Index's Jason Netherton joined us for the latest edition of Cooking Contaminated. Intronaut's Sacha Dunable wondered if corporate-sponsored metal shows are killing the live concert market. We chatted with Soilwork's Peter Wichers, Mantric's Ole Halvard Sveen, and Black Army [...]

POISON THE WELL on Indefinite Hiatus; Gruhamed cries like little girl

by Graham "Gruhamed" Hartmann Today I got a text message from my buddy Joe that I hoped I would never receive: “POISON THE WELL is on indefinite hiatus” My response? The official statement entitled “Taking a break for a while…” was released on the band’s Myspace page yesterday (July 14) at 10:05am: “Everyone, So, after twelve years of being a ...

So Poison The Well are “on hiatus” then…

Officially, the bollock-busting post-hardcore mob that is Poison The Well haven't split up, but have merely gone "on haitus". But we all know that really means "we've split up, but this way we can still get together and do a tour and maybe put out another record in five years if we get bored / [...]

POISON THE WELL POISON MY DAY

Oh, sure. A whole slew of awesome bands seem to be "taking a break" (see: Coalesce, Isis, and Buried Inside - and that's just since May), but fucking Disturbed will live on forever and ever. Here's the statement from the band: "So, after twelve years of being a band, countless tours around the world and records being [...]

TO Fringe Review: Poison the Well

TO Fringe Review: Poison the Well First, if you're doing the Fringe this year, try to see something in the Annex Theatre. Monday was the first time I'd seen anything in this venue before, and it's just a really gorgeous space. Should the show you see at the Annex be Poison the Well ? That's a tough one. Poison the Well is about a fictional terrorist hostage-taking in Russia by Chechen rebels. For dramatic reasons that I'm not entirely sure that I buy, the Russians send a single lawyer from an oil company, which has interests in the region and employees [...]

AN OPEN LETTER TO METALCORE BY SAMMY O’HAGAR

Dear Metalcore: I know you and I don't hang out as much as we used to. I could list a couple of cleverly-worded reasons why, but today is apparently not the day to dwell on that. Instead, I'll just share that I've been doing alright. I've been hanging out with the brothers doom and stoner metal [...]
