I had just played a show in Denver at The Summit Music Hall when I was offered guest passes to see Explosions in the Sky at The Fillmore. They did not disappoint. In fact, I found myself seeking out more of their tunes after witnessing them rouse a crowd of 1500. There music is in a league of it's own, in my opinion. I didn't reach the deadline, but being a longtime fan of Lif and Thievery, I was stoked to work on a remix of the Culture of Fear single they put out. The original old school hip hop flavor is maintained in this remix, but add in an earthy flute, some outerspace stabs, and a tight bassline and this comes out a completely different track. The Polish Ambassador is back yet again with another spectacular remix. This time he tackles The Beastie Boys 2004 hit Sure Shot . The sound is still heavy and banging in the headphones, but the synths and other melodies that PA (that's what I'm calling him from now on) adds, make it perfect. The Polish Ambassador is one of those artists's that I've just recently been turned on to, but I could spend all day downloading his remixes and originals. When they say music can be beautiful in any part of the world, this is what they meant. He's remixing a classic African ballad. I swear this will be the best 5+ minutes of your day. Hands down, 6:30. I'm relatively new to The Polish Ambassador, who we've put up here once before (check his "Fake Plastic Trees" remix, great song) not too long ago. Enjoying this very laid back remix he put out just about a week ago, doing wonders for me in the library. Might require some of you to broaden your musical horizons, and probably still won't be for everyone, but it's good to change it up every once in a while. The Ambassador is at it again with a remix of Little Dragon's "Ritual Union". His style melds extremely well with that of Little Dragon's vocalist Yukimi Nagano's floaty, dream-like voice and he was able to change the slightly metallic feeling of the original into something that is more futuristic and dance-able. The Polish Ambassador has been hard at work on a new Homeboys In Outerspace record while also managing to find time to tour and work on some new remixes.
