We are not enemies but we don't have to get along and I don’t wanna listen, unless you speak from your heart" Throughout life we come to meet a various array of people. When we are young and naive, some of these people can take advantage of our lack of experience and knowledge, but as we become keen to their ways and learn to recognize those opportunistic traits in others that we encounter, we begin to learn that not everyone we meet is meant for us. This [...]
Here you go, my top 10 albums of 2012. I went back and forth on this up until the last minute. But alas, there's no going back now. My picks are official and floating around the world wide web for everyone to scrutinize. And speaking of scrutiny, I would love some feedback. Do you agree/disagree with my picks? What were your favorites this year? Heck, what were your least favorites? Leave a comment below and keep the conversation going. [p.s. see how my final top 10 compared to my favorites back in June and July ] [...]

2012 had more than a handful of impressive debut full-lengths, including Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls , Porcelain Raft's Strange Weekend , and Jack White's Blunderbuss . The tracks below don't even begin to scratch the surface of debuts this year, but these are a few of my favorites. The buzz band of 2011 did not disappoint. If you have yet to give this record a chance, you're only hurting yourself. It's more than just "Southern rock". It's rock and soul [...]
One of the biggest show-stealers at NXNE last month was Porcelain Raft , the arty electro-pop project of Mauro Remiddi that had somehow slipped under my radar for so long, and then registered on it long enough to knock my socks clean off. In the time since, Remiddi has placed himself both in front of and behind the camera to craft a video for Strange Weekend closer "The Way In," projecting layers of flickering film strips that draw mesmerizing patterns of light over himself. Watch below. Strange Weekend is available on Secretly Canadian . [...]
il video di The Way In di #Porcelain Raft , dal suo album Strange Weekend , pubblicato da Secretly Canadian.

Confira!

By Antonio Tzikas Porcelain Raft is the new project from Italian born Mauro Remiddi , a man with a vast and eclectic musical background ranging from scoring films and fronting indie bands to working with traditional music in North Korea. His debut 'Strange Weekend' has been garnering acclaim the world over after its release in January is currently being toured throughout Europe. He talks to Musos Guide's Antonio Tzikas about the success of his release and life on the road. Let's start from the [...]

Maybe this is why shoegazers don't look up very often.

Mauro Remiddi may be a fragile soul, but there aren't any waves treacherous enough to sink Porcelain Raft on this debut. Read more »
Porcelain Raft released another self-directed video today for the song "Something In Between" off his new album Strange Weekend , released last week on the always reliable Secretly Canadian imprint. I don't want to gush too much over this album, but it's definitely the strongest debut I've heard thus far in 2012. There's a link to my full review of the album over at Passion of the Weiss below. B-side from forthcoming "Unless You Speak From Your Heart" single.

It is often easy to loose track, quite literally, when listening to a record fuelled with drifting echoes and sweeping vocals but Porcelain Raft’s latest record manages to capture the elements of both its compiled genres, being electronic and pop, and fuse it together nicely without straying too far into either. If ever you’ve listened to previous material or caught a glimpse of any of the musi... Read more..
“That’s all I need, to sit in the sun,” sings Porcelain Raft , aka Mauro Remiddi, during the beautifully titled ‘Unless You Speak from Your Heart’. Coming midway through Remiddi’s debut album, it’s a line that sums up the feeling for the majority of the Rome-native’s record. Sounding beautifully lazy for large parts, it’s perfect for sauntering through the early spring morning light. A gentle, spacey pick-me-up (despite the romantic travails of much of the lyrics) before a day’s work perhaps. The early stages are the most seductive; when Remiddi remembers that his ghostly, over-dubbed vocals work best when [...]
![[Review/Listen] – Porcelain Raft – “Strange Weekend”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4030446_lg.jpg)
Tweet After a string of neatly arranged EPs, and an opening slot for M83 , Porcelain Raft has finally released a debut album and "Strange Weekend" lives up to the hype. The appeal of "Strange Weekend" comes from the layering of reverb-soaked instrumentation, punctuated by Mauro Remiddi’s sweeping vocals. He ranges from crooning bedroom-pop to HEALTH-like vocals, which are textually thinner and sound more ambient. Even though the music is wonderful, the production quality of "Strange Weekend" is light-years [...]
