Could this have been the year that Seattle went pop? Sure, there have been bands here and there with pop leanings, but this was the year that Seattle finally shed it's flannel, got out of the garage, and didn't feel like it had to be wooly, bearded and mechanical all the time. Look out old Seattle, the kids don't care about your hang-ups! Here are my favorite 15 records (album, ep's and singles) from the Emerald City and environs. 1. Erik Blood - [...]

photo by Morgen Schuler Seattle's Posse have been building a large posse of fans of their own over the past year. Their catchy indie rock is loud when the opportunity comes, but just as frequently quiet and thoughtful. Posse's set at Bumbershoot Music Lounge allowed them to be both: to get in the loud shouts of "Sarah" (also the song's title) as well as the sweet crooning of "it's not me it's you" in the same song. Check out their self-titled album and Some Dongs on Bandcamp , and [...]

I hear you ask, well! POSSE is an online social media platform where [...]

all photos by Dave Lichterman Seattle newcomers Posse have actually been around for a couple years. Although their debut self-titled album came out earlier this year, the trio, which began as a quartet, formed in 2010 before the departure of their bassist. Instead of replacing him the group continued on sans-bass, resulting in a melody heavy, guitar focused rock group who know how to write an addicting song. Their hazy blend of indie rock sounds as though it could have existed in any of the past few decades, from dreamy 602s to fuzzed out [...]
