I know im a little late on this one but Tri Angle Records recently put out a free mixtape from UK beat-trapper, Evian Christ . Boy, is this one amazing. It's a drugging beat collage of heavy post-party tunes, that have this sense of spatial ambiance in its use of swirling tones and textures. Mr.Christ even takes a sample from a haunting Grouper tune and intertwines it with a upright funky post-footwork rhythm in his second to last track on the release, 'Thrown Like Jacks'. [ via ] NY lo-fi hopper dude, Tiago Rodrigues aka RAP / RAP / RAP , recently caught my attention when Teams mentioned him on his twitter. The guy gives off this Hype Williams sounding vibe but clearly has his own interpretation of the eccentric sound. His most recent soundcloud number is one hell of a head-bopper. Earlier this month I stumbled upon this EP released back in 2009 entitled, En'-A-Free-Ka , by L.A.'s free spirit, Shafiq Husayn . Husayn has done works with Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Bilal, and Jay Electronica to say the least; so when it comes to making music without boundaries, he by all means is not a stranger. The closing track of the piece, 'Murasaki Kumo', grips a texture-filled gourmet of spatial wonky beats that were made for head-bopping boggie downs on the dance floor bringing a funky flow of greatness.
