This week I return with a new Photo Sesh post and more good photos from Denise Borders of Punk World Views . She took some shots of a band I used to follow a few years back but haven't stayed up to date with them. The band is Protest The Hero and one of their craziest songs that I had fallen in love with back then was "Blindfolds Aside" (Watch the video here ). Some intense vocals and riffs from this track on the new Oathbreaker album, Mælstrøm. It's out now on Deathwish . These guys have a pretty solid take on sludge metal. I'm not gonna sit here and act like it's the most thrilling sludge to come out in years, but these guys have a lotta promise, ya know? Their production is heavy as hell, they know a decent riff when they hear one, and the lead vocalist has a high-pitched rasp that rivals that of Weedeater frontman Dave "Dixie" Collins. She's definitely the highlight of this track.

I'm an avid fan of concert photography, but unfortunately I don't have much time to see a lot of concerts. Also, I'm pretty lousy at taking good pictures. I wanted to share once a week some cool live shots of bands, and Denise of PunkWorldViews hit me up and sent me some photos. S/T Cassette by Mahria Some powerfully emotional post-hardcore from the band Mahria. From what I understand, this outfit is straight outta Edmonton. Nice! The lead singer in this group is really intense, which is always a plus in this style of music. The band knows how to really build a track, too. The chaotic, noisy highs are always complemented with tuneful lows. Stream Mahria's new cassette via the widget above.

How'd you come up with the name Pile? The band started just as a solo thing and none of the songs were really congruent with each other so they just seemed like a pile of songs. Over the past year, Mumbai progressive metal act Goddess Gagged has built up quite an impressive buzz. Got this 7-incher in the mail awhile back along with a note basically stating to do what I please with it, even suggesting that I throw it in the trash if it didn't float my boat. Mumbai progressive metal band Goddess Gagged launched a promo video today announcing the dates of the release of their upcoming music video and their debut album. The short promo has Goddess Gagged performing the song 'Sink or Swim', the music video of which will release on Wednesday, November 2 and the video also shows that their debut album (we have more deets on that here ), Resurfaces, will be out on November 19. Norwegian punk act Social Suicide closed their India tour (deets here ) with a gig at Blue Frog, Mumbai on Sunday, October 16 alongside prog rock act Goddess Gagged (who are due to launch their debut album soon ) and local metal giants Scribe . I can't do post-hardcore anymore ... I just can't. I listened to a lot of it in high school, I think because my hormones and teenage angst told me it was powerful and transcendent. Now, I listen to it and I think it sounds ridiculous. But, there are those few bands of that style that were really unique and I can still get into them on occasion. They are bands like Circa Survive or Poison The Well or mewithoutYou . Still I don't actively seek out new PH bands anymore. [...]
