Funeral For a Friend – "You Want Romance (Futurecop! Remix)"

Futurecop! continue their childlike whimsicality with another outside the box remix this time of post-hardcore troupe Funeral For a Friend. Yet another stellar piece from the electronic duo. Be sure to check out their recent "The Movie OST" if you haven't already HERE. Funeral For a Friend - "You Want Romance (Futurecop! Remix.)"

Cloud Nothings- "No Future / No Past"

Cloud Nothings - "No Future / No Past" Official Video
A video pushing a track from the new Cloud Nothings album, Attack On Memory . Directed by Ryan Manning and shot by cinematographer Caleb Crossen, here's a video for the Cloud Nothings track "No Future / No Past." Featuring a middle-aged man floating away for reasons that are out of his control, this is easily one of the strangest videos I've seen in a while. I can't help but feel scared and worried for the man in the video as I watch his looks of despair grow more and more intense. The ending [...]

Photo Sesh: Protest The Hero

Photo Sesh: Protest The Hero This week I return with a new Photo Sesh post and more good photos from Denise Borders of Punk World Views . She took some shots of a band I used to follow a few years back but haven't stayed up to date with them. The band is Protest The Hero and one of their craziest songs that I had fallen in love with back then was "Blindfolds Aside" (Watch the video here ). Denise got some good shots of the band performing on December 7th at Chain Reaction. Check them out [...]

Oathbreaker- "Glimpse of the Unseen"

Oathbreaker - Glimpse Of The Unseen
Some intense vocals and riffs from this track on the new Oathbreaker album, Mælstrøm. It's out now on Deathwish . These guys have a pretty solid take on sludge metal. I'm not gonna sit here and act like it's the most thrilling sludge to come out in years, but these guys have a lotta promise, ya know? Their production is heavy as hell, they know a decent riff when they hear one, and the lead vocalist has a high-pitched rasp that rivals that of Weedeater frontman Dave "Dixie" Collins. She's definitely the highlight of this track.

Photo Sesh: August Burns Red, Enter Shikari, & Shark

Photo Sesh: August Burns Red, Enter Shikari, & Shark I'm an avid fan of concert photography, but unfortunately I don't have much time to see a lot of concerts. Also, I'm pretty lousy at taking good pictures. I wanted to share once a week some cool live shots of bands, and Denise of PunkWorldViews hit me up and sent me some photos. So every Monday we are going to do a Photo Sesh series from live concerts she has attended. If anyone else would like to have their live photos up for some exposure, you can email me. Now, obviously they should be decent shots. This week [...]

Mahria- S/T Cassette

S/T Cassette by Mahria Some powerfully emotional post-hardcore from the band Mahria. From what I understand, this outfit is straight outta Edmonton. Nice! The lead singer in this group is really intense, which is always a plus in this style of music. The band knows how to really build a track, too. The chaotic, noisy highs are always complemented with tuneful lows. Stream Mahria's new cassette via the widget above.

A Sunday Conversation with Pile

A Sunday Conversation with Pile How'd you come up with the name Pile? The band started just as a solo thing and none of the songs were really congruent with each other so they just seemed like a pile of songs. It also lent itself to being referenced as a pile of shit, which tickled me. When I was a kid, growing up in a house with Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond, and Simon and Garfunkel, the first time I ever heard Kiss's "Detroit Rock City," it was a moment of musical epiphany. It was just so vicious, [...]

Review: Resurfaces – Goddess Gagged

Over the past year, Mumbai progressive metal act Goddess Gagged has built up quite an impressive buzz. What was once an average and inconsistent 'band with potential', is now an efficient and impressive stage act capable of inciting mini-riots (unlike Metallica , they can only do this when they actually play). The band's sound has also evolved over the year, helped in no small part by a prudent lineup change. After putting out a couple of impressive singles and one not-so-impressive video , the band released their debut album Resurfaces at the [...]

Powerblessings - Stunt Whale 7''

Powerblessings - Stunt Whale 7'' Got this 7-incher in the mail awhile back along with a note basically stating to do what I please with it, even suggesting that I throw it in the trash if it didn't float my boat. It raised the question as to whether I would even do that if this single did somehow suck shit and in the end I decided that I probably wouldn't. Listening to this single didn't force me to revisit that crossroads and in fact was pretty bowled over after throwing it on to the turntable. Powerblessings come from somewhere in [...]

Goddess Gagged to Release Resurfaces at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender

Mumbai metallers Goddess Gagged have been prepping their new album for a while now. We had a look at the promo and the first music video already, but the album is what we are awaiting most eagerly. Goddess Gagged will release Resurfaces on Saturday, November 19 and it will be available at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender (where the band will perform on Sunday, November 20). We had a word with frontman Siddharth Basrur about the album and he told us about the artists that influenced Goddess Gagged and what [...]

Pianos Become the Teeth- The Lack Long After

Pianos Become the Teeth- The Lack Long After ALBUM REVIEW
On Pianos Become the Teeth's sophomore LP, the band sports all the qualities I look for in a screamo group. However, they stop short of separating themselves from many of the bands in this style. WATCH THE REVIEW

Watch: 'Sink or Swim' – Goddess Gagged

Goddess Gagged - "Sink or Swim" Official Video
Mumbai progressive metal band Goddess Gagged has been impressing everyone remotely connected with the Indian metal scene ever since they won the 2010 edition of Strawberry Fields . We were rubbing our hands with glee at the prospect of watching a new Goddess Gagged video (we kept tabs on it here ) but sadly, it wasn't worth the wait. While the song itself is one of the highlights from the band's debut album Resurfaces , the video is imminently forgettable. This clip was shot in what can only be described [...]

Envy- A Warm Room
You like The Wave? Those super-emotional hardcore bands coming out of the US? You'll love Envy then because they're all ripping Envy off. Factoid.

Brett Detar – Bird In The Triangle

Brett Detar – Bird In The Triangle As I mentioned last week in my Nick 13 write up, I was previlaged to see a man by the name of Brett Detar open up the show I saw. Some of you may remember Brett Detar for being in some of the coolest Indy and Hardcore bands of the 90's and early 2000's. Most notably as the lead singer for the band The Julian Theory , few may also remember him being in an early incarnation of metalcore icons, Zao . Brett Detar shows us his Country side in [...]

Listen: La Dispute - "King Park"

Listen: La Dispute - "King Park" I can't do post-hardcore anymore ... I just can't. I listened to a lot of it in high school, I think because my hormones and teenage angst told me it was powerful and transcendent. Now, I listen to it and I think it sounds ridiculous. But, there are those few bands of that style that were really unique and I can still get into them on occasion. They are bands like Circa Survive or Poison The Well or mewithoutYou . Still I don't actively seek out new PH bands anymore. [...]
