Vancouver, B.C. based Weed announced they will release their new album, Deserve , on July 22nd via Couple Skate Records. The first single from the album is the incendiary Set Me Back full of pummeling percussion, husky riffs, and emotive vocals that float from a baritone hum to a bitter scream beautifully. They got my attention. Let that murky fuzz flow.

"Swoon" starts with a maelstrom of digital dissonance. What at first sounds like a careless upload of a terrible quality mp3 you realize is made up of finely crafted overdrive, chorus and tons of reverb. It takes awhile for the vocals to come in but that makes their entrance all the more pleasing. Whirr, formerly known as Whirl, have been touring extensively since last year's full length, Pipe Dreams. This cut, considerably darker than anything they've previously done, is from their upcoming EP, Around , out on Graveface July 9th.
With all the proficiency of technical metal, the fun of punk and the rough-edged raw aesthetic of post hardcore, this group surely deserve to take on the wider world of math punk soon. By Kunal Singhal
