While it may have been disappointment to some fans, The Horrors' new album Skying certainly took on an entirely new meaning for me after hearing several of its' songs performed live in San Diego several weeks ago. Having never seen the band before, I expected sort of a gloomy, meandering performance, and while it was definitely gloomy, there wasn't a brief second throughout the show that I wasn't absolutely intrigued. Faris Badwan provided probably the least amount of banter I've ever heard from a lead singer, instead opting to let the music speak for itself and that it [...]
Date Wednesday, Sept. 21st Location The Parish Doors 800p Tickets $15 from Frontgate Over in the UK, the Horrors have been media darlings, crafting some darkly-tinged songs with Primary Colours , then turning in some brighter numbers on this year's Skying . They've had some success in [...]

Tweet This song is a burner, clocking in at over 8 minutes long, so you should scroll down and hit play first before you read any further (presuming you wanted to read anything anyway...it's not terribly insightful just so you know). The Horrors' latest album "Skying" has been extremely well received, including by ourselves, with the praise being extremely well-deserved. From The Horrors ' first album to this, their third, they've gone through a huge transformation not only stylistically but sonically [...]

The Horrors are set to release their latest album ' Skying ' in the U.S. on August 9th on XL Records. The band's follow-up to 20092s ' Primary Colours ' has already received critical acclaim and debut at #5 on the U.K. album charts when it was released earlier this month (in Europe). As a way to thank fans for waiting, the band are offering up a free download of album track " Moving Further Away ". Download the track below. MP3 : The Horrors - " Moving [...]

Tweet Buy the album from Amazon - Vinyl / MP3 / CD There are a lot of people who still hate The Horrors for having the audacity to be lauded by the British music press before releasing a single note of music. When their first album dropped, it was subject to a wave of negativity that meant it never really had a chance. It didn't help that [...]
On the Horrors third LP, the primary colors that combined to created the band's eccentric brand of post-punk start to fade a little bit; however, I think the move is sort of intentional. Rather than sticking to their guns, the band is moving in a decidedly psychedelic and atmospheric direction with many tracks on Skying . And while their aren't any terrible tracks to be heard on this release, some of the results are underwhelming, admittedly. Still, if you've been a fan of the band up until this point, there's no reason not to visit [...]
Tweet Oh the horror! Has it really been two year since the Horrors released the magnificent Primary Colours ? A record that certainly succeeded in obliterating the perception that the Horrors could be easily written off as "just another band". The sophomore release that garnered the band some well-earned plaudits and a new lease on life as a credible act left us hanging by the seat of our pants wondering what they would do for a follow-up. The wait is thankfully over as the new single Still Life has [...]
New Music | The Horrors I used to really hate The Horrors. I don't think I really knew any of their tunes, but it all sounded like a mildly irritating dribble. Then they completely changed their game and Sea Within A Sea was absolutely genius, with some live streaming situation that was pretty epic, and the album Primary Colours somehow didn't make our top 10 of the year although I'm not sure why. Now they're back after a couple of years and Still Life is pretty great. Very much looking forward to the new [...]
I remember when I first started my YouTube channel, it had no subscribers. Yeah, they all come that way, sadly. But when things started moving in 2010, I was getting a lot of disappointed comments asking me why I never reviewed the Horrors' previous album in '09. Well, my answer is that I was just starting to do this. I was young, brash, clueless, and didn't know how the sausage was made. Sue me. Anyway, the Horrors, which is a rock outfit from the UK, has a new album dropping via XL on July 11th. The title is [...]

The Horrors have announced details of their new forthcoming album. Set for release July 26, the band's follow up to 20092s ' Primary Colours ', titled ' Skying ' is set to feature 10 brand new tracks. The self-produced album, which was mixed by Grammy Award winner Craig Silvey , was recorded in the band's own self built London studio. The first single off the forthcoming album will be " Still Life ", which you can listen to below. ' Skying ' track listing: [...]

Tweet The Horrors second album was not only one of the biggest surprises for me in 2009, but it ended up being pretty much my favourite album of that year. The way the went from being a band who wore their garage influences on their sleeve and annoyed me a little bit to being a fully functional krautrock band providing some of the best moods and textures I'd heard on record for ages was astounding. I knew that they pretty much had their new [...]

Ogni [...]

As promised, here's the second installment of my top albums of 2009. The year carried on into March, which brought us releases from some very familiar acts (and in the case of the one-man Bono show, sometimes too familiar), such as U2, The Prodigy, PJ Harvey and John Parish, Prince, Gomez, and Pet Shops Boys. We also had albums from The Decemberists, The Whitest Boy Alive, The Great Lake Swimmers, MSTRKRFT, vitaminsforyou, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Polly Scattergood, Neko Case, Royksopp, Julie Doiron, Peter, Bjorn and John, and lastly, the Filthy Dukes, who already made my countdown. The Rakes gave their [...]
"And though it's hard for me to say, I know you're better off this way Get away, get away".

It's hard to believe every bit of hype you hear about bands these days. All these crazy blogs are dripping with overblown statements about how great the band du jour is - you can't always believe what you read. I was just as cautious upon entering Neumo's in Seattle last night to see The Horrors. Primary Colours is definitely one of the best albums of the year, but could they pull it off live? I am thrilled to say that they did just that! The band played the ultimate U.S. set which [...]

The Horrors did it right at their biggest show in LA to date.
