Artaius take Celtic folk, mix in some black or death metal vocals and riffs and layer it all with the fiddly keyboard solo's so beloved of early Genesis or ELP. Oh...and add in some Irish whistles for the hell of it. - By Martyn Coppack

Singularity— Northlane Northlane was a band recommend to me by a friend, who likes hardcore/metal much more than I do. Here I am listening to the latest release by Sydney band Northlane, from whom I have not heard a single note. I'm jumping into this review after weeks of listening to mostly garage rock and classic ballads, so here we go. The album starts with a short minute-and-a-half song titled Genesis , which could barely be described as an introduction. It fires right in, and I already know what this [...]

Progressive metal band Petrichor have released their single 'Parasight: Comorbid' almost a year after putting out their debut EP Hueman. The Mumbai band have been busy writing new material and haven't been gigging much since their EP dropped. 'Parasight' is a departure from the bands self-described "djent-y" sound, and is a more straight-up extreme metal. We spoke to drummer Ajit Singh about the band's new release We're releasing this track a year after releasing our EP. We recorded the track at Refractor studios with Adhiraj Singh (who produced the EP as well). [...]

I think it's fair to say that 2012 has been an incredible year for me and Skyharbor . I feel that it has been a terrible year for the Indian scene in general though, having lost so many legendary people this year - Amit Saigal, Clarence Gonsalves, Gyan Singh... but for Skyharbor, it's definitely been a landmark year. We released our debut album Blinding White Noise: Chaos And Illusion (our review here ) worldwide via one of the best record labels in the world, Basick Records. We got a great response from fans and critics [...]
Romanian metal outfit Dordeduh combines elements of folk music from their home country with black metal and progressive metal. While the recording is a little rough and muddy, the resulting sound still maintains a lot of beauty. There's a foreign mysticism to Dordeduh's music, which fans of Negură Bunget will most likely latch onto. Definitely something for people who love their black metal with a bit more dynamics.
